Hope

A person always has hopes for a better future. It is one of the main hopes of the human that one day this world will be clear of all oppression and injustices. It is from this hope that the thought of a savior has occupied the minds of many throughout history.

This matter can especially be seen in the biographies of the Infallible Imams (PBUT).  Their companions would constantly ask them about the matters pertaining to the savior. Depending on the companions’ own understandings, the Imams would explain the matter and discuss the preparations for the coming of the savior. The following is an excerpt of one of these interactions with Imam Jawad (PBUH).

Abd al-Azim al-Hassani, a companion and student of Imam Jawad (PBUH), approached the Imam and said, “I wish to see the Q’aeem (the Riser) of Prophet Muhammad’s progeny (PBUT), the one who fills the earth with justice after it has been overrun with oppression and injustice.”

Imam Jawad (PBUH) replied, “We, the Imams, are all risers by the command of Allah and guides to the right religion. But the Riser (Mahdi (PBUH)), who will clear the earth from infidels and tyrants and fill the world with justice by the will of Allah, is the one whose birth is concealed and whose presence is hidden from the eyes. His name is the same as the Prophet’s.”

Allah (SWT) will prepare the planet for his reappearance and resolve obstacles on his path. He will have 313 pure and devoted companions from around the world which was the number of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH&HP) companion at the battle of Badr. This is the interpretation of the word of Allah, “Wherever you are, Allah will bring you all together; surely Allah has power over all things”. (1)

Then Imam Jawad (PBUH) continued, “When such pure group of people exists on earth, Allah will then release the order of reappearance (for the riser of our progeny).”

We now live in the era of the occultation of the twelfth Imam (PBUH). He is the promised savior and there is no doubt that his reappearance will get closer every minute. Given the current conditions and the predefined situation in this narration, how much concern do we have for the reappearance of this savior? What amount of our personal time is dedicated to preparing ourselves and others for the end of the occultation?  Think about it.
