Eighty nine years have passed from\nthat tragic incident; one whose bitter consequences still affect the Muslims\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After occupying Mecca, they attacked\nMedina; but the defenders of the city did not have the power to face them. They\noccupied the city of Medina as well. Then, they entered the cemetery of Baqi\nand destroyed the grave of Abdullah and Ibrahim, the father and son of the\nMessenger of Allah (PBUH&HP), his wives, and all the companions and\nfollowers with no exception; however, they did not leave it at there and\ndestroyed the metal shrine over the graves of Imam Hassan (PBUH), Imam Sajjad\n(PBUH), Imam Baqir (PBUH), and Imam Sadiq (PBUH). Moreover, they destroyed the\nbirth place of Imam Hassan (PBUH) and Imam Hussain (PBUH), the graves of the\nmartyrs of Uhud, and the shelter (Bait al-Ahzan) Amir al-Mu\u2019minin (PBUH) had\nbuilt for Lady Fatimah (PBUH)(1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These are people who were later known\nas the \u201cWahhabis\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But this question might come into mind\nthat \u201cHow did Wahhabyiat emerge, and who was its founder?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The official preaching of the ideology\nof Wahhabyiat, which considered all the other Islamic sects to be polytheists\nand disbelievers in Allah (SWT), began by Ibn Taymiyyah in year 698 AH in\nSyria. However, his views were strongly opposed by great Sunni and Shia\nscholars. Ibn Taymiyyah died in the prison of Syria in year 728 AH, and his\nthoughts became forgotten with his death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, the false beliefs of Ibn\nTaymiyyah were revived by \u201cMuhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab\u201d with the support of\n\u201cMuhammad ibn Saud\u201d, the governor of the city of \u201cDiriyah\u201d, in the region of\n\u201cNajd\u201d in the Arabian Peninsula in year 1157 AH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab, who is\nknown as the founder of Wahhabyiat, was born in year 1115 AH in \u201cUyyinah\u201d in\nthe region of Najd in the Arabian Peninsula. He learned the Hanbali\nJurisprudence in his hometown and then moved to Medina to continue his studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During his studies, he mentioned\nstatements that revealed his deviated beliefs, to a level that some of his\nteachers were worried about his future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The most important thing Muhammad ibn\nAbdul Wahhab did was that he structured the beliefs of Ibn Taymiyyah as a new\nsect or school which was different from all the four Sunni schools as well as\nShiism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As an example, following Ibn\nTaymiyyah, the Wahhabis believe that Allah (SWT) sits on His throne in the\nHeavens (2). Ibn Taymiyyah is so misguided that he considers Allah (SWT) to\nhave hands, feet, legs, and a face, as explained in his book \u201cAl-Aqidah\nal-Hamawiyah\u201d. This view is in clear contradiction with the verses of the Holy\nQuran, specifically verse 11 of Chapter 42 and verse 4 of Chapter 112, where\nany similarity between Allah (SWT) and His creatures is negated: \u201cThere is none\nlike Him\u201d, \u201cThere is no partner or similar to Him\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hisni al-Dimashqi (3) writes that:\u201d\nIbn Taymiyyah has said,\u2019 Whoever seeks help from a dead person or someone who\nis far \u2026 is an oppressor, deviated, and polytheist one\u2019. This statement shakes\nman\u2019s body. No one has said such a statement before the pagan Ibn Taymiyyah. He\nhas claimed that the Prophethood of the Messenger of Allah (PPBUH&HP)\nceased after his death. Such belief is definitely false, and a sign of\npolytheism and hypocrisy (4)\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Later, Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab went\non with his false beliefs to consider Muslims to be idol worshippers and\npolytheists because of seeking help (Tawassul) from the Prophets and Imams; he\njudged them as disbelievers, considered killing them to be allowed, and\nregarded their properties as war booties. Based on this, he destroyed the\nshrines of all the companions and saints in his vicinity. His followers also\nkilled thousands of innocent Muslims and plundered their properties based on\nthis ruling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zaini Dahlan, the jurisprudent of\nMecca, writes:\u201d He was so extremist that even his brother, Shaykh Sulayman,\ndenied his beliefs and did not follow him in any of his innovations; to a level\nthat he wrote a book in denying the beliefs of his brother. One day, Sulayman\nasked his brother,\u2019 How many pillars does Islam have?\u2019 Muhammad replied,\u2019\nFive\u2019. Sulayman said,\u2019 But you day that whoever is not a Wahhabi and does not\nfollow you is a polytheist, and you have made this the sixth pillar of Islam!\u2019\nTheir dispute became so intense that Sulayman saved his life by escaping to\nMedina (5)\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is so sad that this false belief\nhas made its way to our era, and at a time when mankind takes pride in\ncivilization and progress, the blood of thousands of innocent is spilled in\nvarious countries in terrorist attacks based on the deviated beliefs of\nWahhabyiat. Such belief is a serious threat not only to the Muslims, but also\nto all human beings with any religion or ideology\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Is it not on us to look for a solution\nto oppose the propagation of such false, shallow beliefs?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
