The Messenger of Allah (PBUH&HP)\nappeared in a society afflicted with the worst of human spiritual illnesses;\nthe mental decline had reached to such a level that every tribe had their own\nidol\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He cured the illness of their beliefs\nwith the medicine of knowledge and faith in a way that they praised to Creator\nof the world, fell in prostration before Him, and said,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGlory be to my\nLord, the High, and praise be to Him\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When the Prophet (PBUH&HP)\nannounced his convocation, threatening and tempting reached its peak.\nTherefore, people of Quraysh came to Abu Talib and said, \u201cO Abu Talib! Your\nnephew has certainly depreciated our patience, blasphemed our gods, corrupted\nour youth and divided our assembly. If lacking is making him do this, then we\nwill collect for him wealth so that he may be the wealthiest of the Quraysh. We\nwill marry him to any woman he wants.\u201d They even offered him properties and\nsovereignty. But the answer of the\nProphet (PBUH&HP) to that was:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c(Even) If you placed the\nSun on my right hand and the Moon on my left hand, I would not want them\u201d (1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When they saw that temptation does not\naffect him (PBUH&HP), then they deliberated to threaten and torture. For\nexample, whenever he stood for prayers in the Sacred Mosque (in Mecca), two\npersons would stand whistling on his right and two others would stand clapping\ntheir hands on his left. They would do this to torture him and to disturb him\nin his prayer (2). They would throw dust on his head, or throw intestines of a\nsheep at him while he was prostrating (3).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After the death of Abu Talib, when the\nProphet (PBUH&HP) left Mecca for Ta’if on his own to ask for help from the\nchiefs of the tribe of Thaqif in preaching Islam, they sent crazy men and\nslaves after him to tease him. Then he took shelter in a garden and sat under\nthe shadow of a grape plant; but his condition was so awful that one of the\npagans pitied him. So he said to his Christian slave, called \u201cAddas\u201d, that,\u201d\nTake some grapes to him\u201d. When the slave put the grapes in front of the Prophet\n(PBUH&HP), he stretched his hand towards the dish and said: \u201cIn the Name of\nAllah\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The slave said,\u201d People of this city\ndo not say such a word\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prophet (PBUH&HP) asked,\u201d Which\nland do you belong to? What is your religion?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He replied,\u201d I am a Christian from\nNaynawa\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prophet (PBUH&HP) said,\u201d From the\ncity of Yunus, son of Mata\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addas asked,\u201d How do you know Yunus?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prophet (PBUH&HP) replied,\u201d He was\nmy brother; he was a Prophet, and I am too\u201d. So Addas showed respect to the\nMessenger of Allah (PBUH&HP) (4)\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They had tortured his companions with\nthe most severe forms of torture. They tortured the mother of Ammar Yasir, who\nwas an elderly lady, to turn her back from her religion and to disbelieve. But\nshe did not, thus they killed her (5).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite all the tortures the Messenger\nof Allah (PBUH&HP) suffered from those people, when some people asked him\nto pray against those ignorant pagans, he said,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIndeed, I have\nnot been appointed but as a mercy for the worlds\u201d (6)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And in turn for all those tortures, he\nwould pray for those people:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cO Allah! Guide\nmy people, for they do not know\u201d (7)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He would ask for mercy rather than\npunishment, a mercy that has no like, which is the blessing of guidance. Rather\nthan complaining, he would intercede for them before Allah (SWT), and he would\nmake excuse for them that they did not know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Such a person can say: “I was\nappointed to accomplish the noble moral traits and acts.”(8)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Verily this is the manifestation of\nthe glad tidings the previous Prophets had given in their Divine books. In\nfact, studying the life, merits, and virtues of the Prophet (PBUH&HP) is\nsufficient for any just person to be convinced to believe in his Prophethood\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
