In the afternoon of Tasu\u2019a (the day\nbefore Ashura) Shimr sent a protection letter to Abbas ibn Ali (PBUH) and his\nthree brothers due to their familial and blood relations. He was faced with a stern rejection from Abbas\n(PBUH). 1<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And in action it was seen how on the\nDay of Ashura Abbas ibn Ali (PBUH) and his brothers fought courageously and\nsacrificed their lives for Imam Hussein (PBUH). \nHistorians have recorded, when the companions of Imam Hussein (PBUH) and\na number of his family members had been martyred, Abbas (PBUH) called his\nbrothers in accordance to age and told them to \u201cRush to the battlefield.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first of them was Abdullah ibn\nAli. He was about eight years younger\nthan his brother Abbas (PBUH). On the\nday of Ashura, Abbas (PBUH) called Abdullah and said to him, \u201cO brother! Rush\nto the battlefield, so I can witness your being killed in the way of\nAllah.\u201d Abdullah rushed to the\nbattlefield and fought with his sword amongst the enemies, while reciting, \u201cI\nam the son of the generous brave man. He\nis Ali, the kind-natured and doer of good. \nThe sword of the messenger of Allah (PBUH&HP) inflicts plain, and\ndaily fear.\u201d2<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And after a courageous lengthy battle,\nhe fell to his martyrdom as a result a sword hitting to his head. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The second brother was Uthman ibn\nAli. He was born two years after his\nbrother Abdullah. After birth, Amir\nal-Mu\u2019minin (PBUH) said, \u201cI have named him after my brother in faith Uthman ibn\nMa\u2019zoun3.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When Abdullah ibn Ali was martyred,\nAbbas (PBUH) called his brother Uthman and as he had said to Abdullah, \u201cBrother\ngo forth to the battlefield.\u201d Uthman\nwent, he would fight with his sword, saying,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is me\nUthman, the owner of pride, my master is Ali, the same good and pure man.\u201d4<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And after an apparent fighting, he was\nhit by an arrow, to which he fell to the ground on his side. A man from the enemy came forth and finished\nhim off leaving him to his martyrdom, and separating his head from his body. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
After Abdullah and Uthman, the\nbrothers of Abbas (PBUH) were martyred, Abbas called upon Ja\u2019far and asked him\nto rush to the battlefield like his brothers. \nJa\u2019far ibn Ali was born two years after his brother Uthman. It has been narrated from Amiralmu\u2019minin that\nhe was named after his brother Ja\u2019far ibn Abi Talib. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ja\u2019far rushed towards the field, and\nput forth his sword among them saying, \u201cIt is me Ja\u2019far, the owner of prides,\nson of the gracious and doer of good, Ali.\u201d5<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the end, he too was martyred after\nhis many acts of courage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Indeed, the Moon of Bani Hashim,\nAbal-Fazl al-Abbas (PBUH) first sent his brothers to the field where they were\nsacrificed for Imam Hussein (PBUH) in the path of Allah (SWT). And in the end\nhe too was martyred in utmost cruelty6, gaining a status that martyrs envied\nhis state.7<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These four brothers, Abbas (PBUH),\nAbdullah, Uthman, and Ja\u2019far, the sons of Ummul Banin (PBUH) never left Hussein\n(PBUH) alone in word and act, and sacrificed their life for him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
