Sometimes, a one or two, or a few day\nlife of a person, which its description might fit in few pages writing, is\nglorious to an extent that can prove the worthiness of a person better than\ndozens of books. His majesty Ab al-Fazl al-Abbas (PBUH) was a person as such.\nUnfortunately, the history does not have much to say about his life. But what\nis the use of an abundant amount of information? What is important is the rank\nof a person before his Creator. His position is so high that Imam Sadiq (PBUH)\nhas said about him, \u201cAbbas\u2019 position before Allah is so high that all the\nmartyrs envy him.\u201d (1) But what is the reason for this position?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is the day of Tasua (the ninth day\nof the month of Muharram). Abbas (PBUH) is sitting in the presence of the\nMaster of martyrs (PBUH). At that moment, a commander from the army of enemy arrives and shouts, \u201cTell Abbas\nibn Ali and his brothers to come.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Abbas (PBUH) hears that, but does not\npay attention, as if he has not heard anything. He is sitting politely in the\npresence of his master Hussain ibn Ali (PBUT). At this time Imam Hussain (PBUH)\nsays, \u201dAnswer him, although he is a corrupt person.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Abbas (PBUH) comes out of the tent,\nand realizes that it is Shemr ibn Dhi al-Jowshan that has called him. Having a\nfamily relation to Abbas (PBUH) from Abbas\u2019 (PBUH) mother side both being from\nthe same tribe, Shemr had brought a letter of immunity for Abbas (PBUH) and his\nbrothers from his mother side before arriving from Kufah. As Shemr finished his\nwords, the face of Abbas (PBUH) turned red, and anger ran through all his\nveins. He made a fury and said, \u201cAllah curse you and the one who has given you\nthis letter, what have you thought for me? Have you thought that I will leave\nmy Imam and master Hussain Ibn Ali (PBUT) and come with you for the sake of my\nlife? The mother who has raised us has not trained us like that\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The next day, with the utmost loyalty\nto his Imam, first he sent his brothers to the battlefield, and after them, he\nstayed alone. Then he donated his life to his master excellently. Yes, this was\nwhat happened\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is the extent of nobility,\npureness, and self-sacrifice!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We only look to the surface of an\naction. We usually do not look to the inner layers of the action to see its\nvalue. But Imam Sadiq (PBUH) explained it to us and said, \u201cGod bless our uncle\nAbbas who sacrificed his life, and succeeded in the divine exam in the most\nexcellent way possible.\u201d(2)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
