The nickname of Bab al-Hawaij is one\nof the most famous nicknames of Hadrat Ab al-Fadl al-Abbas (PBUH) amongst the\nShiites. It could be claimed that this nickname is not unfounded, as Hadrat Ab\nal-Fadl al-Abbas (PBUH) is one of the doors of the infinite mercy of Allah\n(SWT) whom we seek refuge from the difficulties of this world and the Hereafter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the other hand, when we refer to\nthe sayings of the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT) in regards to Hadrat Ab al-Fadl al-Abbas\n(PBUH), their love for him is evident. On the day Hadrat Ab al-Fadl al-Abbas\n(PBUH) was born, Amir al-Mu\u2019minin (PBUH) kissed his hands and cried(1).\nAccording to the Ahadith, on the Day of Judgment, Prophet Muhammad\n(PBUH&HP) will ask Lady Fatimah (PBUH), \u201dO Fatimah! What have you brought\ntoday to intercede for the nation?\u201d Then, she will reply, \u201dO father! The two\ncut hands of my son Abbas are enough to intercede for the nation (2).\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Ahadith, Imam Hussain\n(PBUH) has addressed his brother, Hadrat Ab al-Fadl al-Abbas (PBUH), by saying,\n\u201dMay I sacrifice my life for you! (3).\u201d Moreover, Imam Sajjad (PBUH) has said\nthe following in this regards, \u201dMay Allah (SWT) bless Abbas (PBUH) who preferred\nthe life of his brother (Imam Hussain (PBUH)) over his own life, suffered (in\nthis way), and sacrificed his life for his brother\u2026There is a high status for\nAbbas (PBUH) before Allah (SWT) such that all the martyrs will envy his status\non the Day of Judgment (4)\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But why is it so? How has he become\nBab al-Hawa\u2019ij? In fact, how has he gained such an extreme love from the\ngreatest guardians of Allah (SWT)?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If we study different portions of\nHadrat Abbas\u2019s (PBUH) life, we come to realize that he was completely obedient\nto the orders of Allah (SWT), and undoubtedly, his high rank and status is\nbased on his unconditional obedience of the religion of Allah (SWT). This\nrighteous servant of Allah (SWT) was so obedient that on the day of Ashura and\nin the last moments of his life when his right hand was cut, he said, \u201dI swear\nto Allah (SWT) that even if you cut my right hand, I would never give up\nsupporting the religion of Allah (SWT), the messenger of Allah (PBUH&HP),\nand the righteous Imam (5)\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hadrat Abalfadl al-Abbas (PBUH) was\nmartyred in this path, and became one of the purified and highly ranked souls.\nIndeed, such a righteous person shall become a beloved one of Allah (SWT) and\nHis guardians (PBUT), and it is appropriate for such a person, who is following\nthe path of content and submission, to help people, intercede for them, and\nbecome the door to fulfilling their needs. Of course, Hadrat Abbas (PBUH) is a\nmanifest example of the need fulfilling attribute of Allah (SWT).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
