Faith in Allah has certain\nrequirements and responsibilities that may be difficult and impossible for many\nto act upon. Example of this would be\nstruggling in the way of Allah (SWT), standing up against the enemies,\nforgiveness, and sacrificing one\u2019s wealth and life for the sake of Allah\n(SWT). Allah (SWT) has stated in the\nHoly Quran:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd (as for)\nthose who believed and fled and struggled hard in Allah’s way, and those who\ngave shelter and helped, these are the true believers\u2026 (1)\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And in a similar context, the Holy\nQuran has:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe believers\nare only those who believe in Allah and His Messenger then they doubt not and\nstruggle hard with their wealth and their lives in the way of Allah; they are\nthe truthful ones (2)\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That is why Allah (SWT) has elevated\nthe status of warriors and martyrs above all others, as He states in the Holy\nQuran:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThose who\nbelieve, and have left their homes and striven with their wealth and their\nlives in Allah’s way are of much greater worth in Allah’s sight (3)\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And in another verse, it is stated:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026And Allah\nshall grant to the strivers above the holders back a mighty reward (4)\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jihad (struggle) in this context\nrefers to hard work, effort, sacrifice, and forgiveness in the path of Allah\n(SWT). This act is possible for all\npeople, each in their own individual manner and special circumstances. It is for this reason that women are exempt\nfrom the war which is fought with weapons, and it is not obligatory on them to\nfight in battles. However, if there are other ways that they can serve their\nfaith, while protecting their modesty, character and health, surely that is a\nsign of faith and accomplishment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The great lady of Islam, Lady Zaynab\n(PBUH), did exactly that. When she was\nfaced with the responsibility of striving in the way of Allah (SWT) and fighting\nthe non-believers, she jeopardized her wealth, life, and family, and left her\nlife. She even took her children with\nher to Karbala, and was always a kind and faithful companion to her Imam, Imam\nHussain (PBUH). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zaynab\u2019s (PBUH) character clearly\nreflects upon being raised by a mother who likewise defended her faith with all\nher might. Lady Fatimah (PBUH), the\nmaster of women, would take advantage of all opportunities to express her\nopposition to the enemies of Allah\u2019s religion and the innovators in\nreligion. Her speeches, reminders, and\ndiscussions with Prophet Muhammad\u2019s (PBUH&HP) companions all served to warn\npeople about the dangers of overlooking and ignoring Prophet Muhammad\u2019s\n(PBUH&HP) teachings. And when she\nrealized that this method was not working, she chose to express her message and\nopposition to the then ruling party and its deviations through tears and wails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Having such a role model as her mother\nis what gave Lady Zaynab (PBUH) such strength that even when she saw the blood\ncovered bodies of her brothers, nephews, and sons, she remained patient and\ninstead of weakening, complaining, or swearing, like what many other women who\nface calamities would do, she chose to remain steadfast and use the situation\ntowards spreading her martyred brother\u2019s message. In fact, she used all her\npower and every opportunity she could to accomplish the holy movement her\nbrother had initiated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Indeed, Lady Zaynab (PBUH) fulfilled\nher mission in this manner, and succeeded her sacrifices with pride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
