\u2026Alas! With her baby in her arms, Lady Mary (PBUH) returned from the\neastern outskirts and into her town: \u201cand she came to her people with him,\ncarrying him (with her)\u201d (Quran 19:27).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When they saw a baby in her arms,\ntheir mouths widened from surprise. Those who knew about Lady Mary\u2019s (PBUH)\nchastity and had heard of her piety and virtue became very worried. Some even\nbegan to doubt, while others hasty in judgment began to condole her: \u201cWhat a\npity! What disgrace upon that good family!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They said: “O Mary! Truly an\namazing and wrong thing you have done!” (Quran, 19:27).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some others told her: \u201cO! Sister of\nHarun, your father was not a man of evil, nor was your mother unchaste\u201d (Quran,\n19:28).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Upon this, Lady Mary (PBUH) remained\nsilent, as Allah (SWT) had commanded, and only pointed to her son.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This response however, surprised them\neven more; and perhaps some considered it ridiculous. Their anger rose thinking\nLady Mary (PBUH) has made a ridicule of them. \nThey said: “How can we talk to one who is a child in the\ncradle?” (Quran, 19:29)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This situation however, did not last\nlong, while the child unexpectedly began to speak: <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI am indeed a\nservant of Allah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He has given me revelation;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And made me a prophet;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And He has made me blessed (for all\npeople) wherever I am;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And has enjoined on me Prayer and\nCharity as long as I live;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And has made me kind, gracious, and\ngrateful to my mother;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And not unmerciful and overbearing\u201d\n(19:32)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And finally, this child says: \u201cSo\nPeace be upon me, the day I was born, the day I will pass away, and the day\nthat I shall be raised up to life (again)!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
