On a Thursday, the 15 Sha\u2019ban of the\nyear 256 AH, Hujjat Ibn al-Hassan, the son of Imam Hassan Askari (peace be upon\nthem) was born in Samarra (Iraq). He is the final chosen (selected by God) Imam\nof Ithna Ashari Shias (the twelve Imamis). \nHe is expected to rise for justice and to spread and shed light on the\none true religion, giving him the nickname the Qa\u2019im– the upstanding and\nupright. All Muslims (and all of humanity who desires justice and such savior)\nawait his appearance, thereby receiving the nickname, the awaited one. Further,\nAllah and His messengers have promised his appearance as one who will fill the\nearth with justice, giving him the nickname the Promised One.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Messengers coming before him gave news\nof succeeding messengers to prepare the society for the Mahdi. For example,\nMoses prophesized about Jesus, and likewise Jesus foretold about Prophet\nMuhammad as Ahmad or Farqaleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The holy Quran has made clear\nstatements1 from some of the previous messengers who have foretold about the\none at the end of time (the promised Mahdi according to the interpretations). 2<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The great Prophets (PBUH&HP) have\nalso mentioned many things about the appearance of Mahdi, referring to him as a\ndescent of Ali and Fatimah (PBUT). Mahdi is the child of Imam Hassan Ibn Ali\nal-Askari (PBUH), and holds the final rise of religion and monotheism; Mahdi is\nthe promised one referred to over and over in holy traditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Many verses of the holy Quran have\nbeen interpreted by Sunni scholars as reference to the appearance of the\nMahdi3. In addition, major Sunni\nreferences include many relevant narrations from the great Prophet, which\npresent the conditions of the appearance or situation of the time during the\ncoming of the Mahdi.4 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A look into Islamic history will show\nthe claims of people being the Promised Mahdi, as foretold by the Prophet\nMuhammad (PBUH&HP), began as early as 130 years before the birth of Imam\nMahdi (PBUH), (beginning the Abbasid Dynasty). \nConcerns over the issue of the Mahdi and his reappearance in the ends of\ntime (for global recovery, belittling of the oppressors, avenging the cruelty\ndone unto the oppressed, valuing those who have been wronged and the\nsubordinates, and executing the commands of the Holy Quran) began since the time\nof the Holy Prophet himself and continued to be a major part of Islamic\nteachings throughout. Tidings of his reappearance was given by the Prophet\nMuhammad (PBUH&HP) himself, which is why Muslims of all sects believe in\nthe basic doctrine of the Mahdi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the foretelling of\nprevious holy books and Islamic traditions, it became renowned that a son will\nbe born to Imam Hassan Askari (PBUH) who will topple the reins and crowns of\noppressive rules. That is why the life\nof Imam Hassan Askari (PBUH) was under tight watch and control for many years,\nwhere the Abbasid rule would send people to his house to make sure Imam Hassan\n(PBUH) would not father a son. Mu\u2019tamid\nAbbasid had given the order to kill any child born to that residence. Keeping the birth of Imam Mahdi (PBUH)\nhidden was very difficult on Imam Hassan (PBUH) and his family, but once the\n11th Imam was martyred, news from the Imam\u2019s death and the presence of this\nchild reached the Abbasid Palace. Mu\u2019tamid\nal Abbasi, the caliph, immediately ordered his men to charge into the house of\nImam Hassan Askari (PBUH) and search the house to kill his son, Mahdi (PBUH).\nSoldiers poured into the Imam\u2019s house, marking the reason behind the Imam\u2019s\noccultation, as the twelfth leader of the Shiites was hidden from sight by\nAllah\u2019s command, enlivening the prophet\u2019s saying that, \u201cEven if one day is left\nfrom the life of the world, God will lengthen that day to the extent where\nMahdi, my son appears and fills the earth with justice as it had been filled\nwith oppression,\u201d5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Humanity has reached a point of a dire\nneed for spirituality or as the Prophet (PBUH&HP) puts it, \u201cThere is a need\nfor a person to make a global and corrective move to remove all the oppression\nand dissidences, and to return spirituality to lives of people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
