Imam Hassan al-Askari (PBUH) said,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAll the evils\nare kept in a room, and the key to that room is lying (1)\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The stability of a society is based on\nthe trust among its people. What strengthens and reinforces a society is the\nlevel of truthfulness of its people; if truthfulness leaves a society, the\nlives of the people would become difficult, insecure, bitter, and miserable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is the jewel of truthfulness that\nis priceless and invaluable wherever it is found and in whomever it is\nmanifested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A truthful person refrains from lying,\nbe it serious or just for humor. A truthful person stays away from hypocrisy and\ninsincerity. The actions of a person who is truthful in advising people and\npreaching always match his sayings. The meaning of truthfulness in keeping\npromises is to remain loyal and committed to promises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the statement of Prophet\nMuhammad (PBUH&HP),\u201d Truthfulness in speech, being responsible towards\npeople, and fulfilling the oaths are the criteria for truthfulness and\nproximity to him; and whoever is a liar, betrayer, or disloyal is extremely\ndistant from him(2)\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Truthfulness in speech and action\nmakes one beloved and reliable among people. In contrast, lying makes one\nunreliable among people and rejected in the eyes of Allah (SWT). Truthful\npeople enjoy mental peace and tranquility, and are not afraid of being\ndisgraced; as the proverb says: Why worry if you have a clean slate?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Therefore, honesty is the firmest\nfoundation upon which friendships, companionships, movements and the like are\nbuilt; without honesty, all these actions are prone to failure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the contrary, most misbehaviors and\ndisputes among families and friends, and even quarrels arise from\nuntruthfulness and dishonesty. Hypocrisy and deception are manifestations of\ndishonesty in words or action. In fact, many divorces occur due to dishonesty\nduring the process before marriage in terms of sayings, claims, and promises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Truthfulness is the key to the\nparadise of mercy and telling lies opens the door to the plethora of disgrace.\nThis is the same disgrace Imam Askari (PBUH) has noted. Indeed these words are\nfull of light \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
