I was very close to being fed up with\nlife\u2019s difficulties. Poverty had its hands up my neck. And although I had been\ncareful in spending, my situation was not getting any better. My situation had\nbecome so difficult that I decided to see Imam Hadi (PBUH) and complain about\nthe situation Allah (SWT) had willed upon me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I began my journey toward the Imam\u2019s\n(PBUH) house. After asking permission, I\nwas directed toward the Imam (PBUH). I sat besides the Imam (PBUH) and just as\nI was about to start complaining about my situation, Imam Hadi (PBUH) said, \u201cO\nAba Hashim! Which of Allah\u2019s (SWT) blessings do you want to praise?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With these words, the Imam (PBUH) had\ncaught me off-guard as I struggled to find answers. Seconds later, the Imam\n(PBUH) spoke again, \u201cAllah (SWT) blessed you with faith to save you from Hell\nfire. He blessed you with health to help you in worshipping Him. And He blessed\nyou with contentment to protect you from embarrassment\u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cO Aba Hashim! I\nbegan the conversation in such a manner because I assumed you were going to\ncomplain about the One who blessed you with all these blessings. [And by the way,] I have ordered that you be\ngiven 100 Ashrafis. Take them\u2026(1)\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Perhaps we all have experienced\nhardships and difficulties in our lives. Issues that make life seem so\nsuffocating that we highly feel the urge to complain\u2026 With a review on the\nabovementioned story, we can realize that Imam Hadi\u2019s (PBUH) addressee was not\nonly Abu Hashim; in fact, the Imam\u2019s (PBUH) comments were directed to all\nfaithful men and women who are desperately striving hard to find a way toward\nchange in their difficulties and hardships. The message of the Imam (PBUH)\nfocuses our attention to seeing what we possess, rather than what we lack.\nThese are the same blessings for which without them we would be the poorest,\neven if we have all the riches in the world. And these are the same blessings,\nthat if we had them, we could be the richest, even if we were the poorest\nmaterially. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
With all said, amid all the\ndifficulties of life, we can see Allah\u2019s (SWT) promise to us as He gives us\nglad tidings, \u201cSurely, with (each) difficulty is ease\u2026(2)\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
