One form of the deviations that lead\nto the aberration of the followers of different religions is exaggeration of\nthe leaders of that religion. In some instances the status of the leader of the\nreligions is exalted to the divine. This also applies to Islam and Shiism, and\nexaggerating the status of the Imams and counting them as equal or same as God\nhas taken place. However, what is important is the reaction of the religious\nleaders and their confrontation with the phenomenon of exaggeration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The following is the story of the\nShiite tenth Imam, Imam Hadi (PBUH) in confronting exaggeration:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the fabricators of exaggeration\nagainst Imam Hadi (PBUH) was a person known as “Ali bin Hassakah.”\nAiming for the aberration of the simple minded people who could not discern\ntruth from illusion as well as aiming to pursue his personal interests he\nadvocated some unauthentic untruths constituted as shiite teachings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The innovatory false ideas that he\npromoted included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A) Imam Hadi (PBUH) is the creator and\nmanager of the being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
B) Ibn Hassakah is the prophet that\nhas been appointed by Imam Hadi (PBUH) for the guidance of people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
C) All the religious mandates\nincluding Zakat, Hajj, fasting is shifted and no longer necessary for his\nfollowers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
These issues are reflected in a letter\nwritten to Imam Hadi (PBUH) by one of his companions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“My Master,\n“Ali bin Hassakah” claims that he is one of your friends, and that\nyou are the first and permanent god of the universe, and that he is the\nmediator and prophet from you, and that you have appointed him as the promoter\nof these beliefs. He believes that Salat, Zakat, Hajj, and fasting and all the\nother mandatory rules are provisioned for the sake of knowing you and knowing\nHassakah that claim prophethood and mediation. Therefore he counts himself as a\nperfect believer that no mandate for him such as Salat, Zakat, Hajj, and\nfasting are compulsory for him, and he says that the essence of all religions\nis what you have understood. Many people have become his followers. If you deem\nas prudent help us by writing a letter as a response so that the people get\nguided. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In response to the deviatory ideas of\nBin Hassakah, Imam Hadi (PBUH) with stressing the Islamic principles regarding\nSalat, Zakat, Hajj, and Wilayat showed his detestation toward Hassakah and\nordered his followers to oppose and confront him and his followers explicitly\nin his letter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ibn Hassakah, God damn him, he is a\nliar; beware that I don’t know him to be among my friends. What has happened to\nhim? God take his mercy from him, I swear by Allah that He did not appoint\nMohammad (PBUH&HP) and the prophets before him except for the pure religion\nand Salat, Zakat, Hajj, fasting and Wilayat; and Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) did\nnot preach the people except to worshipping the absolute and unique God, and\nsamely we the successors from his descent are slaves to God and do not account\nanything to Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If we obey him we will be mercied\nupon, and if we disobey, we will be subject to punishment. We don’t have a\nproof (hujjat) against him; He however has signs (hujjat) upon us and all other\ncreatures. I despise the person with such beliefs, and recourse from their\nfalse word to Allah. You, same as me, despise them, God take His mercy from\nthem, and be rough toward them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
