Imam Kazem (PBUH) has said: \u201cWith\nrespect to inferiors and the closed-tongues (animals) take God into\nconsideration.\u201d They asked him: \u201cWhat is meant by the closed-tongues?\u201d He\nanswered: \u201cThe sheep, cat, dove, etc.\u201d1<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The animals play various crucial roles\nin the lives of humans. The Almighty has granted the man a great blessing by\ncreating them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the Holy Quran some chapters are\nnominated with the names of animals such as the An\u2019am (the four legged),\nal-Bagharah (the cow), al-Feell (the elephant), al-Nahl (the bee), al-Naml (the\nant), and al-Ankabut (the spider) which show the interdependence of the life of\nthe humans with the animals\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Islam has regulated some rights and\nduties with respect to the animals, domestic and wild, and has considers rules\nsuch as the duty to provide water and food and necessary needs for them and not\ndoing to them injustice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Islam emphasizes good treatment,\ntolerance and mindful use with respect to the animals, and does not allow man,\nwith the excuse of his superiority, to ignore the rights of animals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That is why Imam Musa bin Jaffar\n(PBUH) has reminded to take God into consideration in treating the animals.\nThat means we should not treat them in a way that leads to God\u2019s lack of\nsatisfaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The animals have rights that we are\nobliged to uphold them, and there are numerous jurisprudence rules in this\nrespect. For example, it is not allowed\nto put on an animal a load heavier than its capacity. Or making it carry it in\na long route. The riding of three persons on it is prohibited as well2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Providing the necessary needs of the\nanimal is included in the duties as well. The most obvious of them having the\nright to live, as well as providing its food and water and a good shelter,\nsecurity in the night, abstaining from harming and disturbing the animal are\namong these rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Imam Kazem (PBUH) has counted as a\nsign of generosity is that the animals under one\u2019s supervision be well fed and\ntaken care of3.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
