Imam Kadhim (PBUH) took the leadership\nof Shia after the martyrdom of his honorable father in in year 148 and spent\nrest of his noble life in Madina and Baqdad. He was unique of his time and no\none could qualify to be compared with him in knowledge, piety and worshiping\nAllah (SWT). Even the Sunni scholars who do not approve his appointment as Imam\nby Allah (SWT) have addressed him with goodness and magnanimity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ibn Abi al-Hadid (the mu’tazili sunni\nscholar) has described the holy Imam as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe religious,\njurisprudence, worship, tolerance and patience were all gathered in him.\u201d(1)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ibn Emad (the Hanbali sunni scholar)\nhas written in \u201cShazarat al-Zahab\u201d:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMusa ibn al-Jaffar was a\ngreat person. He was one of the most righteous, pious, generous and patient\npeople.\u201d Then he narrates from Abu Hatam: \u201cHe is trustworthy and a leader of\nMuslims.\u201d (2)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yafeie (a sunni scholar) says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe was truly\nrighteous, pious, patient, merciful and generous.\u201d (3)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yahya ibn Hasan ibn Ja`far (the famous\nsunni genealogist) also comments about him:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMusa ibn Ja`far\nwas being called \u201cthe righteous servant\u201d because of his worships and ijtihad\n(striving on the path of Allah (SWT).)\u201d (4)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Moreover, ibn Khallakan (the shafe\u2019i\nsunni historian) narrates from Khatib:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe was honorable and\ngenerous. He used to bag golden coins in amounts of 200, 300, 400 and divide\nthem between the people of Madina. His gold bags were famous.\u201d (5)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zahabi (the famous sunni Rejali (an\nexpert in investigation of the trustworthiness of narrators)) has written about\nImam Kadhim (PBUH):<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMusa ibn Ja`far was one\nof the most generous scholars and also one of the most pious servants of Allah\n(SWT)\u201d (6)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Owing all the good moral characters\nmentioned above made Musa ibn Ja`far (PBUH) so popular amongst people and they\nacknowledged that he had various extraordinary abilities. Ibn Jozi (the hanbali\nsunni muhaddith (a person who memorizes and narrates a lot of narrations) and\nhistorian) and ibn Hajar Haytami (the shafe\u2019i sunni religious jurisconsult)\nnarrate in this regard:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cShaqiq Balkhi, the\nfamous scholar in mysticism, encountered Musa ibn Ja`far (PBUH) in the Hajj\npilgrimage in the year 149. He tried to ask Musa ibn Ja`far (PBUH) a question\nseveral times and each time the Imam revealed what he had in his mind by\nreciting a verse of holy Quran.\u201d (7)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apart from sunni scholars, Haroon\nal-Rashid, the Abbasi caliph of the time of Imam Kadhim (PBUH) told his\nminister, Rabi, about him:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis man is from the\nmonks of Bani Hashim.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fazl ibn Rabi said: \u201cSo why have you\nimprison him?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Haroon answered: \u201cThere is no other\nalternative solution.\u201d (8)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As mentioned, the Abbasi caliph and\nhis agents who were afraid of Imam\u2019s spiritual power and his influence on\npeople\u2019s souls poisoned and martyred him on the 25th of Rajab of the year 183\nin Baqdad prison, despite all his nice characteristics that they even\nacknowledged themselves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
