and said, \u2018May I sacrifice my life for\nyou, how can one know the Imam?\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Abu Basir Narrates: I once visited\nImam Kazem<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Imam replied that there\nare a few characteristics to consider:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
1. For one, the\nprevious legitimate divine chosen Imam should have introduced him to the people\nas his successor and as God\u2019s appointed leader; just as the Prophet of Allah\n(PBUH&HP) introduced and assigned Imam Ali (PBUH) as the divine chosen\nImam, similarly every Imam must introduce the next appointed Imam to the people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
2. That he be\nable to respond to your every question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
3. That you\nremain silent, while the Imam speaks (uttering your intention)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
4. Inform people\nabout future events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
5. Speak to everyone\nin his own language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I asked: \u201cMy life! An Imam must speak\nin every language?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He replied: \u201cIndeed, he can even speak\nthe language of creatures that fly(1), I will show you proof before you leave.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
No long passed before I saw a man from\nKhorasan visit the Imam, and speak to him in Arabic; the Imam responded in\nFarsi however, and the man said, \u201cbut I did not speak to you in Farsi, for I\nthought to myself that you may not know Farsi well?\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Imam Kazem (PBUH) answered, \u201cPraise be\nto Allah! If I am unable to respond to\nyou in the best manner, then what virtue will I have over you?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was then that the Imam said to me,\n\u201cO\u2019 Abu Muhammad! An Imam is one whom the words of people, animals, birds, and\nall those that have souls are not hidden from him. One who lacks these virtues will not be an\nImam.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
