A follower of Imam Sadiq (PBUH)\nnarrates: \u201ca friend of Imam got sick and we went to visit him. On the way we\nmet with Imam Sadiq (PBUH). Imam asked us \u201cwhere are you going?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We answered we are going to visit the\nman. Imam (PBUH) said \u201cwait.\u201d We stopped, then he said: \u201cdo any of you have\nwith yourself some apple or quince or citron, or some perfume or some oud for\nincense?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We replied: \u201cwe don\u2019t have with\nourselves any of these.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Imam Sadiq (PBUH) said: \u201cdon\u2019t you\nknow that the sick relaxes when he is gifted?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also stressed that visiting the\nsick should be short and he used to say: \u201cvisiting the sick should take no more\nthan a milking of a camel.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His other advice was to not to stare\nat the sick for it would make him aggrieve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The great Imam (PBUH) as well advised\nto ask the sick to pray for us during the visit, for his pray is like the pray\nof the angels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yes, a seemingly unimportant custom\nmoves the human toward growth and will help to deepen the social ties between\npeople.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
