\u201cThe world is a kind of a commercial marketplace. Some take profit out\nof it, and some exit it as losers. And some others, when they leave this world,\nwould be lamenting and regretful for not taking a gain for their afterworld.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This sentence was as a stimulus for\nthe decision of Umayyad\u2019s ruler, Umar Ibn Abd al-Aziz, to give the Fadak Garden\n(1) that was usurped by the previous rulers for a long time, back to it true\nowners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hisham Ibn Ma\u2019az narrates:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One day Umar Ibn Abd al-Aziz entered\nMedinah and ordered his agents to announce publically that anyone who had\nsuffered from the government could refer to him for compensation. At the same\ntime he faced Imam Baqir (PBUH). Imam addressed him as such:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cO, Umar Ibn Abd\nal-Aziz!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The world is a kind of a commercial\nmarketplace. Some take profit out of it, and some exit it as losers. And some\nothers, when they leave this world, would be lamenting and regretful for not\ntaking a gain for their afterworld.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Contemplate on two issues about\nyourself:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
First, take into account what you like\nto keep with you in order to be prosperous in the court of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Second, be careful about what you\ndon\u2019t like and what you find unpleasant that would make you shameful in the\ncourt of God, and will hinder your path on the Serat Bridge. Then replace them\nwith a suitable good (a virtuous action)\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
O, Umar Ibn Abd al-Aziz! Open the\ndoors to the people and those who refer to you. O Umar! Solve the problems, and\nalways try to be beside the oppressed and confront the oppressors and offenders.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then he added: \u201cThe one with the three\ntraits has a full faith.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The words of Imam (PBUH) were so warm\nand pleasant that he could not hide his enthusiasm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Umar Ibn Abd al-Aziz, after hearing\nthese words, sat on his feet and said: \u201cO, son of the Prophet of Allah, tell me\nthe three traits.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Imam said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFirst is to not\nto commit a sin when he is happy and contented;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Second is to not forget justice when\nhe is sad or angry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Third is not to exceed his limits when\nhe reaches to power.\u201d (2)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The words of Imam (PBUH) penetrated\ninto the mind of Umar Ibn Abd al-Aziz to an extent that without considering and\nfollowing the practice of the previous rulers, he could no longer turn a blind\neye to the truth, and ordered his agents to bring him a pen and paper, and\nreturned Fadak, as the right of the Ahl al-Bait (PBUT), to the son of Zahra\n(PBUH).(3) However, finally, he never accepted the truth fully to return the\nCaliphate to its true owners, and exited from the world marketplace as a loser\u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fadak is a\nfertile piece of land in Hijaaz that the Great Prophet (PBUH&HP), in his\nlifetime and by the order of Allah, gave it to Lady Zahra (PBUH) as a gift.\nLady Fatimah (PBUH) used to cover the costs of a large number of the poor and\nneedy from the profits of this piece of land. However, after the Great Prophet\n(PBUH&HP) passed away, the rulers of the time usurped this piece of land\nwithout the consent of daughter of the Prophet (PBUH&HP) for the\ngovernment.
