Imam Sadiq (PBUH) narrates from his\nfather, Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (PBUH):<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One day, I came to Jabir ibn Abdullah\nal-Ansari and greeted him. He replied my salutations and because he was blind,\nhe asked me to tell him who I was. I introduced myself: \u201cI am Muhammad, son of\nAli, son of Hussain.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said: \u201cO! The son of the best human\nbeing, come closer!\u201d I went closer. He hugged me and kissed my hands and tried\nto kiss my feet. I pulled myself away and prevented him from doing so. He then\ncontinued: \u201cThe messenger of Allah (SWT), Prophet Muhammad (PBUH&HP), had\ntold me to convey his greetings to you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I replied: \u201cPeace and blessings be\nupon the Messenger of Allah.\u201d I then asked: \u201cJabir, what is the story behind\nthis?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said: \u201cOnce when I was in the\npresence of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH&HP), he said to me, \u2018O! Jabir, perhaps\nyou will live long enough until you meet a man from my children, whose name is\nMuhammad, son of Ali, son of Hussain, to whom Allah has granted light and\nwisdom. So, send my greetings to him\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jabir ibn Abdullah ibn Amr ibn Haram\nal-Ansari was a great companion of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH&HP). He was\namongst the companions of Badr. He was a participant in many of the battles of\nProphet Muhammad (PBUH&HP) and Imam Ali (PBUH). Jabir had always been a\nfollower of Prophethood and Imamat. He never neglected the love and affection towards\nProphet Muhammad (PBUH&HP) and Ahl al-Bait. The continuous efforts of him\nin introducing Amir al-Muminin (PBUH) and his respected children to the public\nwere many. Furthermore, he was the first pilgrim of the shrine of Imam Hussain\n(PBUH) in Karbala. He became blind near the ends of his life and passed away at\nthe age of 90 (in year 78 AH). It is narrated that he used to sit in the mosque\nof Prophet Muhammad (PBUH&HP) and say: \u201cO! Baqir, O! Splitter of\nknowledge.\u201d1 The people of Medina thought he had gone mad. Jabir used to say:\n\u201cBy Allah (SWT)! I am not saying nonsense. I personally heard the Prophet\nsaying: \u2018O! Jabir, perhaps you will live long enough until you meet a man from\nmy children, whose name and appearance is similar to mine. He will split the\nknowledge perfectly. So whenever you see him, send my greetings to him.\u2019 So it is the Prophet\u2019s saying, that has given\nme the impulse to say such words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
