Bani Umayyah and Bani Marwaan\ncommitted many of atrocities in the name of Islam during the time of Imam\nSajjad (PBUH). At the time when the Umayyad caliphs called themselves after the\nProphet of Allah (PBUH&HP), Imam Sajjad (PBUH) illuminated the right path\nby explaining core concepts of Islam in the form of prayers. Many of these\nprayers have been recorded in the book of Sahifah Sajjadiyah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of Imam Sajjad\u2019s (PBUH) valuable\nworks is the book of Rights. This book consists of 51 rights in which each has\nvast meanings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As an example the third item mentioned\nin this book is the rights of tongue, which we will take a brief look at it\nbased on the narrations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to words of Amir al-Mu\u2019minin\n(PBUH) the factor that distinguishes mankind from other creature is his wisdom\nand power of speech.(1) Mankind can solve many troubles in the society by using\na good language and can change animosities to friendship. On the contrary, bad\nlanguage can ruin a society and change friendships to enmities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH&HP) has\nsaid, \u201cWhat other throws people in hell face down, other than their tongues?\u201d\n(2)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite the tongue\u2019s small size, it\ncan carry the greatest and heaviest activities. Controlling one\u2019s tongue can\ncreate comfort and peace from divine punishment on the Day of Judgment. If a person fails to control his own tongue,\nand lets it free, he will create ground for worldly and spiritual catastrophes\nfor his other body parts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Imam Sajjad (PBUH) has said regarding\nthe rights of this important part of the body:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is the right\nof the tongue to save it from bad talk, and make it accustomed to good and\npolite use. Speak none other but in times of need, and the times of gaining\nbenefits for this world and the hereafter. Refrain from speaking in vain and\nredundancy which its result is nothing other than loss. Know that (your) tongue\nis proof of your brain and thoughts. The reflect of your beautification and\nadornment with wisdom is your fair and eloquent tongue.\u201d(3)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Man should consider this organ\nhigher than to apply it for bad words. Allah (SWT) has not bestowed this organ\nto us so that we use it for rude or offensive language, backbite, scandal and\nsimilar prohibited and nonsense issues, rather the responsibility of tongue is\nto form sympathy, sincerity, and good interaction according to wisdom and\nreligion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To think of it, if a person\u2019s tongue\ncan be the cause of his success or failure, to which direction is our tongue\npulling us towards? Is it a fire that burns all our actions, or is it a\nlifesaving water that puts out all the other flames?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
