A caravan of Muslims was traveling\ntoward Mecca, when they arrived to Medina they stayed there for a couple of\ndays to rest, then again started on their journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In between the path of Medina to Mecca\nin an unfamiliar place, the caravan met a man who knew them from before. While\nthe man was speaking to the people in the caravan, he noticed a pious man who\nwas working hard and serving the people in that caravan. In that very first\nglance he understood who that man was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was surprised and asked the people:\n\u201cDon\u2019t you know who the man serving and working for you is?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They answered: \u201cNo, we do not know\nhim. He joined us in Medina, and he is a pious man. We did not ask him to work\nfor us, but he wanted to help out others and give them a hand.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Man said: \u201cOf course, you do not\nknow who he is, because if you did know, you wouldn\u2019t be so impolite, and you\nwouldn\u2019t let him work like a servant for you people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They asked: \u201cSo who is this man?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Man said: \u201cHe is Ali Zain\nal-Abedin, the son of Hussain.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After finding out who that stranger\nwas, the people got up quickly and walked toward Imam Zain al-Abedin (PBUH) to\napologize. They started complaining to the Imam, saying: \u201cWhy did you do this\nto us? God forbid we could have said something inappropriate to you which would\nhave been a big sin.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Imam Sajjad (PBUH) said: \u201cI purposely\nchose to travel with your caravan, who did not know me. For, at times when I\ntravel with those who know me, because of my relation to the messenger of Allah\nthey have so much respect towards me, that they do not allow me to perform a\ntask. Therefore, I\u2019d rather travel with those who do not know me, and I do not\nwish to introduce myself so that I can give them a hand and help them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
