A narrator narrates that,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI went to Imam\nKadhim (PBUH) and said to him,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMy wife and Ibn\nMarid\u2019s wife go out to attend mourning ceremonies, and I forbid them from doing\nso. But my wife responds to me by saying: If this act is unlawful, then we\nwon\u2019t go. But if it is not, then why are you forbidding us? If one of us passes\naway, then no one will attend ceremonies held for us!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou asked me about\nsocial rights. My father [Imam Sadiq Imam (PBUH)] constantly sent his mother\nand wives out (to the houses of people of Medina to attend their mourning\nceremonies) so that he would fulfill their rights\u2026 (1)\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If we reflect on this short narration,\nwe come to realize that the words of the Imam (PBUH) contain noteworthy and\ndeep points. For instance:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
1. Attending\nother people\u2019s ceremonies is a social right; therefore, we have to attend\nothers\u2019 mourning ceremonies to fulfill this obligation. In fact, the attendance\nand paying condolences are considered to be rights and obligations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
2. We need to\nattend other people\u2019s ceremonies so that they would attend ours. This is among\nthe traditions of the Ahl al-Bait (PBUT).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
3. Fulfilling\nthis social responsibility is a continuous task; because Imam Kadhim (PBUH)\nsaid,\u201d My father [Imam Sadiq Imam (PBUH)] constantly sent his mother and wives\nout (to the houses of people of Medina to attend their mourning ceremonies)\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
4. We need to\npay attention to the fact that Imam Sadiq Imam (PBUH) did not sent his maid to\nattend the ceremonies; rather he sent his mother who had that high status. This\nemphasizes the importance of this fact and proves the existence of social\nrights. It is essential that such traditions be observed by people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So knowing that such rights exist\namong the people, and people were encouraged by the Ahl al-Bait (PBUT) to\nfulfill this rights, what is our responsibility towards the mourning ceremonies\nof the Ahl al-Bait (PBUT)? If we want to fulfill our responsibility in this\nregards, what should we do?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
