\n\u2026 Hussain (PBUH) and Ibn Zubair both refused to pay\nallegiance to Yazid and revolted against him. Hussain (PBUH) came to Iraq and\nwas killed there; and Ibn Zubair stood up against Yazid in Mecca. When Hussain\n(PBUH) was killed, ibn Zubair got a good excuse and added revenge of Hussain\n(PBUH) from Yazid to his motives to rise against Yazid. He then fought Yazid\nfor two years. Yazid\u2019s army threw stones and fire with catapult on Masjid\nal-Haraam from the mount Abu Qubais as Ibn Zubair was hiding in the mosque.\nYazid\u2019s army destroyed Ka\u2019ba but they withdrew and returned to Shaam as Yazid died\nduring the war and thus they could not capture Ibn Zubair. Ibn Zubair declared\nvictory and found many advocates and was able to expand his rule throughout\nHijaz and Iraq. Later at the time of governorship of Abd al-Malik Marwaan, the\nnew Umayyad caliphate, he was killed by the ruler of Kufah, Hajjaj Ibn Yusof.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hussain (PBUH) and Ibn Zubair both\nstood against what was wrong and they were both killed; but Ibn Zubair called\npeople to himself and Hussain (PBUH) called everyone to his God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ibn Zubair rose and said Yazid has no\nright to rule. He wanted the caliphate for himself; he wanted Yazid down so\nthat he could go up. The one who desires kingship and power, he is devoted to\nevil. Ibn Zubair was killed for the cause of his worldly desires; he was devoted\nto the path of evil. Nevertheless, Hussain (PBUH) was not seeking any position\nor kingship at all. Adolescent minded people are the one who care a lot for\npower. One, who has realized how belittled life is, understands that this world\nis nothing other than a temporary joy and a game; power comes with more pains\nand concerns. Hussain (PBUH) was more than being chained with worldly desires\nfor power. When he was about to leave Mecca on the eight of Dhi al-Hijjah, he\nclearly stated, \u201cI am rising to enjoin to good and forbid from evil; not for\ngetting any reign and to cause sedition.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hussain\u2019s (PBUH) path was exactly\nidentical to his father and grandfather; to invite the Muslim nation to piety;\nto prevent them from seeking power and according to the holy Quran avoid them\nto \u201cseek superiority\u201d on earth. Hussain (PBUH) intended to prevent people from\nbeing deceived by alluring acts of Yazid and make them become worshipers of\nAllah (SWT) instead of being worshippers of a Man. Hussain (PBUH) wanted to\nnotify people that finally this world would pass, so what is the reason for\nthis greediness and negligence? How many years would a person live in this\nworld?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Indeed, the Master of Martyrs\nsacrificed whatever he had only and only for the cause of Allah (SWT). Imam\nSadiq (PBUH) points out the divine motive of Imam Hussain (PBUH) beautifully in\nanother excerpt from Ziarat of Arba\u2019een, \u201cO Allah, (I bear witness that) he\nfought with them in Your path while he was patient and only had You in his mind\nand was committed to shed his blood in the path of Your obedience \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
