A Bedouin Arab came to Imam Hussain\n(PBUH) and said,\u201d O son of the Messenger of Allah! I owe a huge debt which I\ncannot afford to pay. I thought with myself that I should ask the most generous\nperson for help. And I did not find anyone more generous than the Ahl al-Bayt\nof the Messenger of Allah (PBUT).”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Imam (PBUH) said to the man,\u201d O\nArab brother! I will ask you three questions. If you answer one of them, I will\ngive you one third of your debt; if you answer two, I will give you two thirds\nof your debt; and if you answer all of them, I will give you as much as you owe\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Bedouin replied,\u201d O son of the\nMessenger of Allah! How is it that a person respected and knowledgeable like\nyou asks question from a person like me?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Imam Hussain (PBUH) said,\u201d Yes, I\nheard my grandfather say ‘Doing good to someone should be as much as his\nknowledge\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Bedouin said,\u201d Ask whatever you\nwill. If I know the answer, I will respond, and if not, I will learn the answer\nfrom you\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Imam Hussain (PBUH) asked,\u201d What is\nthe best deed?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The man replied,\u201d Having faith in\nAllah\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Imam Hussain (PBUH) said,\u201d What will\nsave people from destruction?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The man replied,\u201d Trust and reliance\non Allah\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Imam Hussain (PBUH) asked,\u201d What is\nthe ornament of a person?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The man replied,\u201d Knowledge that is\ncombined with patience and endurance\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Imam Hussain (PBUH) said,\u201d What if\nthat is not possible?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The man replied,\u201d Wealth which is\ncombined with generosity and grace\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Imam Hussain (PBUH) said,\u201d What if that\nis not possible?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The man replied,\u201d Poverty which is\ncombined with patience\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Imam Hussain (PBUH) said,\u201d What if\nthat is not possible?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The man replied,\u201d A thunder shall come\nand destroy him; because that is what such a person is worthy of\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Imam Hussain (PBUH) smiled, took out a\npouch which had one thousand gold coins and a ring whose stone was worth two\nhundred gold coins in it, and offered it to the man and said,\u201d O Bedouin! Give\nthe coins to the people you owe, and use the ring for your personal expenses\u201d\n(1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The man took the pouch and said,\u201d\nAllah best knows where and in which family He places His message (Prophethood)\u201d\n(2).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
