Hassan and Hussain (PBUT) were the\nheirs of scientific, spiritual and physical perfections of the Prophet Muhammad\n(PBUH&HP). (1) The people could recognize the Prophet in their faces,\nbehavior and manners, and witnessed his greatness and holiness in them.\nAccording to the narrations of historythe Prophet was the source of love,\nkindness, caress, and paternal mercy to the Hassanain (PBUT). He loved them(2),\nkissed them(3), gave them ride on his shoulders(4), personally nursed them,\ncalled them his sons, became upset when they cried(5), and laid them asleep on\nhis chest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As well, in outdoors, in the house, in\nthe mosque, in the presence of the companions and people, in the times of\nmaking speeches, and during the Salat, the Hassanain (PBUT) received the\nspecial grace of the Prophet. All the scripts in the authentic books of the\nShias and the Sunnis reflect such pure feeling of the Prophet. Apart from such\nencounters, there are words retold from the Prophet that reveals the special\nattention of the Prophet towards these Imams (PBUT).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For instance, based on numerous\nnarrations of valid books, Lady Fatimah (PBUH) took Hassan and Hussain to his\nbed-side during the illness of her father (which leaded in his death), and\nsaid: \u201cO the Prophet of God, here are your two sons, bestow them or make them inherit\nsomething.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Prophet said: \u201cI bestow greatness\nand patience to Hassan, and kindness and munificence to Hussain.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And in another narration he said: \u201cSo\nfor Hassan, my greatness and courteousness is for him, then for Hussain, he has\nmy munificence and courage.(6)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These narrations reflect a glimpse of\nthe perfection that Imam Hassan and Imam Hussain (PBUT) inherited from their\ngrandfather. These statements and special behaviors toward the Hassan, Hussain\nand Lady Zahra (PBUT) show the intense feelings of fatherhood. As well, it\nshould be noted that the motives of the Prophet of Allah enjoy balance, and\nhousehold relationships and his love toward the Hassanain never made him say\nanything beyond the truth. Therefore these encounters are evidence to the\nperfections, merits, and efficiencies of the Hassanain and their infallible\nmother (PBUT). In addition, merely fatherly emotions can not be the source of\nsuch statements of the Prophet about them. It is obvious that the Prophet\ndiscerned a divine secret in their visages. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Possibly, the secret of such various\nand similar hints from the Prophet points to the manner of the two great Imams\nin leadership, that the Prophet has stressed and approved both of them to\nensure that the basis of these religious appointments are the plans and duties\nthat the Prophet had announced the people following the divine revelation and\nthat they are not separate from the method and Sirah of the Great Prophet\n(PBUH&HP). However, Hassan and Hussain (PBUT) are heirs of entire moral and\nscientific perfections of their grandfather, as the Prophet has said about them:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThese two of my\nsons are Imams, whether they rise or they sit.\u201d(7)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Moreover, narrations like the noble\nnarration of Thaqalayn, the Imams’ narrations, and the narration of the ship\n(Safinah), and others indicate that Hassan and Hussain (PBUT) were heirs of the\nsciences of the Prophet, and each of them were true leaders of Islamic Ummah in\ntheir time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Imam, heir, and successor of the\nProphet must be a measure of balance, and is in fact the center which the\nsluggish and the slow are lead to, so that they are not left, and their\ndistance with Imam, who is the leader of the God worshippers, does not exceed.\nAnd the center which the hardliners are returned to, so that excess does not\nendanger them to get lost. This is the true meaning of some narrations of the\nProphet (PBUH&HP) explaining the narration of Thaqalayn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Do not accelerate\nthe Quran and Itrah (Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT)) or you will fall, and do not fall\nbehind them or you will fall, and don\u2019t teach Itrah, as they are wiser than\nyou.”(8)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
How do we act today? It is possible\nthat through times we get distant from the line of balance; however, the\naffairs which are conducted away from going to extremes are acceptable by us\nall. However how can we define the extremes and the moderateness? Who do we\nconsider as the measure of balance in our life?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
