In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent,\nthe Merciful<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the time Marwan was the\ngovernor of Medina, he used to curse Amir al-Mu\u2019minin (PBUH) before starting\nthe sermon of Friday prayers every week. One day he sent someone with a letter\nthat was full of insults and verbal abuses to Imam Hassan (PBUH).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When the agent delivered the letter to\nImam Hassan (PBUH), he said to the agent,\u201d When you meet with Marwan, tell him\non my behalf that:\u2019 I swear to Allah (SWT) that I won\u2019t remove anything by\ninsulting you; but (I will remain patient and say nothing since) we shall meet\nin front of Allah (SWT). If you were truthful about what you have said about\nme, then Allah (SWT) will offer you a good reward, but if you were lying, then\nAllah (SWT) is more worthy than all the people to take revenge\u2026(1).\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Ibn Hajar (one of the\nfanatic Sunni scholars), the cause of demise of Imam Hassan (PBUH) was that\nbased on a plot by Yazid (however, according to prominent Sunni and Shia\nscholars, the plot to poison Imam Hassan (PBUH) was initiated by Mu\u2019awyiah; to\nget more information, refer to the footnotes)(2), Imam Hassan\u2019s (PBUH) wife,\nJu\u2019dah daughter of Ash\u2019ath ibn Qais Kindi, decided to poison him so that Yazid\nwould marry her once the Imam (PBUH) was poisoned. In order to guarantee this,\nYazid gave her a hundred thousand silver coins, and Ju\u2019dah poisoned Imam Hassan\n(PBUH) based on the instructions of \u201cYazid\u201d. Imam Hassan (PBUH) was sick for\nforty days, and eventually was martyred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It has been narrated that when Imam\nHassan (PBUH) was poisoned, He said to Imam Hussain (PBUH),\u201d O brother! My\ndeath has come and I shall be separate from you and join my Lord soon. O\nbrother! I was poisoned three times, but none of the previous poisons were as\neffective as this last one. O brother! I threw up parts of my liver; I know who\nhas poisoned me. I ask you through my right on you not to talk about this at\nall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When I die, wash my body and shroud\nme, and take my body towards the grave of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH&HP)\nto renew my respect to him. Then, take my body to the grave of my grandmother\nFatimah bint Asad, and bury me besides her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With regards to my martyrdom, I urge\nyou to avoid spill of blood, even as little as a syringe\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Imam Hussian (PBUH) asked,\u201d Who has\npoisoned you?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Imam Hassan (PBUH) replied,\u201d It is\nobvious from your question that you want to kill him\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Imam Hussain (PBUH) said,\u201d That is\nright\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Imam Hassan (PBUH) refused to answer\nhim question, and left the affair of his killers in the hands of Allah (SWT).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Finally, as soon as the Imam (PBUH)\npassed away, Ju\u2019dah sent someone to Yazid to remind him of the promise he had\ngiven. However, Yazid sent a message saying:\u201d We did not want you to treat him\nas such. How can we make ourselves caught by you? (3)\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When Imam Hassan (PBUH) was martyred,\nMarwan also attended his funeral and cried. Imam Hussain Imam (PBUH) said to\nhim,\u201d Why are you crying over my brother when you gave him drinks of sadness\nand grief?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Marwan replied,\u201d I cry over the\nhonorable person whose patience was greater than a mountain (4)!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, due to the\nstatus of Muawyiah in the eyes of some the Sunnis, which respect him for his\nshort companionship with the Messenger of Allah (PBUH&HP) and being the\ncaliph, and deny any misconduct from him, it is not unlikely that people such\nas Ibn Hajar have introduced Yazid as the killer of Imam Hassan (PBUH) to purge\nMuawyiah from this crime; because Yazid is not respected by the majority of\nSunnis due to the shameful calamites of his rulership. In fact, Ibn Hajar is so\nfanatic in this regard that he has compiled a book called \u201cTathir al-Jinan Wa\nAl-Lisaan an al-Khutur wa al-Tuful li Thulb Sayyidna Muawyiah ibn Abi Sufyan\u201d\nin order to purge Muawyiah from the numerous crimes he had committed during his\nlife. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
