The Ahlul Bayt would use every\nopportunity and excuse to guide and teach mankind the necessary wisdom in the\nbest possible manner. The account below is an example of their interaction and\nhelp to the poor and others who asked for help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One day Uthman (the third Caliph) was\nsitting beside the Masjid. A poor man\nasked for money. Uthman gave him five\nDirhams [silver coins]. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The poor man said, \u201cGuide me towards a\nperson who would give more help.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Uthman pointed towards a section of\nthe mosque where Imam Hassan Mujtaba (PBUH), Imam Hussein ibn Ali (PBUH), and\nAbdullah ibn Ja\u2019far were sitting, and said \u201cGo seek help from those young men.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The poor man went towards them and\nrequested for help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Imam Hassan Mujtaba (PBUH) responded\nwhile intending to educate for the conditions of asking help, \u201cIt is all right\nto ask others for help under three circumstances only: a due compensation for\nwhich the person is unable to pay himself; a heavy debt for which he cannot\npay; and or when he becomes poor and helpless and cannot help himself. Which of these (matters) have befallen you?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The poor man responded, \u201cMy problem\nfalls under one of these conditions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Imam Hassan (PBUH) gave him fifty\ndinars [gold coins]. Following him, Hussain Ibn Ali (PBUH) gave him forty-nine\ndinars and Abdullah Ibn Ja\u2019ffar gave forty-eight.1<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When returning, the poor man passed\nUthman. Uthman asked what he did. The poor man responded, \u201cI asked you for\nmoney, and you gave, but you did not ask why I needed the money for. But when I went to the three people, one of\nthe (Hassan ibn Ali) asked me about the reason of my request. Once I responded, they gave me this amount.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Uthman said, \u201cThis family is the\ninstitution of knowledge and wisdom, and the fountain of kindness and\nvirtue. Who can find any like them?\u201d2<\/p>\n\n\n\n
