It was as though it was yesterday when\nher father had asked for her presence at his deathbed, where he whispered some\nwords in her ear. Words that would\nprepare her for the ingratitude and chaos that were to come in the near\nfuture. Words that spoke of her joining\nhim soon, words that spread a smile, for just a few short moments, on a face\noverwhelmed by tears and grief. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some three months had passed since the\ndemise of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH&HP). \nFatimeh (PBUH) was grieving the loss of her father on the one hand, and\nthe evils stirred up by Saqifah on the other. \nShe was as though a ship stuck ship held companion to the sick bed, as\nher final candles of life gave light before slowly going out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That day she told Asma\u2019, a lady\nhelping her, \u201cPrepare some water for me to wash myself.\u201d Asma\u2019 brought water and Lady Fatimah\n(PBUH) washed and said, \u201cHand me my new\nclothes.\u201d She put them on and asked for\nher bed to be place in the middle of the room. \nShe lay down on the right side of her body, facing the Qibla, placed her\nright hand under her face and then said, \u201cLeave me to be alone. I wish to speak\nprivately to my Lord. Call me a while\nlater, if I respond then nothing, but if I do not, then know that I have left\n(this world) towards my Lord.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Asma\u2019 narrates, \u201cI left the room and\nlistened to the Lady praying. Time passed,\nand I called on her, but heard no response. \nI said, \u2018O daughter of the best man to have walked on this earth! O\ndaughter of the man whose distance to the Lord has become as far as two arrows\nor less!\u2019….but there was no answer. I\ncame close, entered the room, lifted the sheet from the Lady\u2019s face, and saw\nthat she had left this world\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Asma\u2019 threw herself on Fatimeh (PBUH),\nkissed her and said, \u201cO Fatimeh! As you leave to see your father, send the\nregards of Asma\u2019 Bint Umais to the Messenger of Allah!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Asma\u2019 left the house. Hassan and Hussein (PBUH) approached her,\nasking \u201cWhere is our mother?\u201d She was\nunable to respond. They entered the\nroom, and saw their mother lying. \nHussein (PBUH) shook his mother, and saw that she had passed away. He turned to his brother Hassan (PBUH), and\nsaid, \u201cO brother! May Allah reward you in this calamity of mother\u2019s loss.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hassan (PBUH) threw himself on mother,\nsaying, \u201cO Mother! Speak to me before I die!\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hussein (PBUH) came forth kissed\nmother\u2019s feet and said, \u201cIt is I, your son Hussein! Speak to me before my heart\ntears to pieces!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Asma\u2019 asked them to get their father,\nImam Ali (PBUH) and inform him of the situation. They left while calling, \u201cO Muhammad! O\nAhmad! Our mother has died, it is as if your death has occurred again!\u201d They reached the Masjid and informed\nAmiralmu\u2019minin (PBUH).\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Those present report that upon hearing\nthe news, Imam Ali (PBUH) lost consciousness. \nAwhile later, when having recovered, he presented himself by her side,\nsaying, \u201cO Daughter of Muhammad (PBUH&HP)! Who can calm me after you? You\nalways calmed me, who can give me comfort and peace after you?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As Imam Ali (PBUH) placed the tomb of\nFatimeh (PBUH) into the ground, he addressed the Prophet of Allah (PBUH&HP)\nreferring to the harm inflicted upon the Prophet\u2019s daughter, \u201cO Messenger of\nAllah! I am returning the one you had given to me, and soon enough your\ndaughter will inform you of how your community gathered together to harm\nher. Ask her and ask about our\nwell-being for not much time has passed and your name has not been forgotten\u2026\u201d2<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Indeed! The one daughter of the\nMessenger of Allah (PBUH&HP) and the leader of women in both worlds died\nshortly after his father\u2019s death, at the age of 18. She bade farewell to the house of Ali (PBUH),\nhaving faced grave physical and emotional injuries inflicted upon her from the\nfounders of Saqifah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
