Once, Lady Fatimah (PBUH) entered upon\nthe presence of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH&HP). Prophet Muhammad\n(PBUH&HP) asked her to \u201cleave and bring me my cousin Ali and my grandsons\nHassan and Hussain.\u201d Moments later Lady Fatimah (PBUH) returned with her\nhusband and children and met with the Holy Prophet (PBUH&HP) with respect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Afterwards the Prophet (PBUH&HP)\nput the cover (a cloak) he had with him over Ali, Fatimah, Hassan, and Hussein\n(PBUT), and pointed to the sky with his right hand, saying, \u201cO Lord! These are\nmy Ahl al-Bait, and they are the closest people to me, the chosen ones. Remove\nfrom them all impurities, and make them pure.” After the Prophet\u2019s\n(PBUH&HP) prayer, the Angel Gabriel brought forth the holy verse of Tat’hir:\n\u201cVerily Allah only desires to keep away the uncleanness from you, O people of\nthe House! and to purify you a (thorough) purifying.\u201d (Quran 33:33).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the mirror reflection of the\naforementioned verse (verse of Tat’hir)(1), there is the clear image of the house\nand family of Fatimah and Ali (PBUT). A portrait that should have been hanged\non the walls of history, so the passerby of the era could have used as a guide\nfor his\/her own life. The above-mentioned incident gives us a closer look into\nthe various aspects and environment present in the house of Fatimah and Ali\n(PBUT): (2)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Monotheism <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first characteristic of this\nintimate environment is its monotheistic aspect present in the inner relations\nof this family, showing that Allah (SWT) is the ultimate truth that has each\nmember of this family enthralled. When the lady of the house hears of his\nfather\u2019s weak physique, she requests Allah\u2019s (SWT) blessings upon him. When the\ngrandfather sees his daughter, grandsons, and son-in law beside him, he\nimmediately begins a conversation with Allah (SWT), requesting from Him, His\nblessings, mercy, and satisfaction for this loving gathering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prophethood <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The second characteristic of this\nenvironment is the central role of the Messenger of Allah(PBUH&HP) on the\nhome and heart of this family. All members of this family love to refer to the\nProphet (PBUH&HP) as \u201cThe Messenger of Allah\u201d, even though he is their\nfather, grandfather, brother, or father-in-law. The Prophet of Allah\n(PBUH&HP) when in the presence of this family (whom he refers to as the Ahl\nal-Bait), wants to make an oath, he makes an oath to a Lord whom appointed him\na Prophet. Prophethood is the second pillar to the house of Fatimah and\nAli(PBUT) and their children (PBUT).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Friend and Foe (3)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The third aspect of this environment\nis a focus to the constant war between truth and falsehood. The Prophet (PBUH)\nwho sees this family in full captivity to Allah (SWT) and says in this small\nfamily gathering: \u201cO Allah that which hurts this family, hurts me, and that\nwhich saddens this family saddens me.\u201d And\nhe says with utmost clarity: \u201cI am at war with him who is at war with them and\nin peace with him who is at peace with them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kindness to one another <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The fourth aspect to the environment\nof the family of Fatimah and Ali (PBUT) is the never-ending love and kindness,\nwhich the members of this family had and showed to one another. The lady of the\nhouse, as the daughter, prays to Allah for the Prophet\u2019s weakness; as a mother,\nshe refers to her sons as \u201cmy sons! the light of my eyes! the fruits of my\nheart\u201d. Likewise, the grandfather refers to his grandsons with the terms \u201cmy\nson! the savior of my community!\u201d; and refers to his son-in-law as \u201cmy brother!\nmy successor! my flag-bearer!\u201d; and refers to his daughter as \u201cmy daughter! my\nflesh!\u201d and tells Allah: \u201ctheir flesh is my flesh and their blood is my blood.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A fight against ignorance <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The fifth aspect of the relations\namong this family is the removal of social borders in place of religious\nbeliefs. This family has distanced itself a great deal from the patriarchal\ngoverned society evident in that era. The man of this house greets the lady\nbefore entering the house. The grandfather refers to his daughter as part of my\nflesh, and this occurs in a land where daughters continued to be buried alive\nby their fathers for some time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Respect and Manners <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The sixth aspect of this household is\nthe respect and manners the members showed to one another. \u201cPeace\u201d (Salaam) is\nthe first word uttered by the members of this family when connecting with each\nother. The asking permission of the younger children to climb into the arms of\ntheir grandfather, and the requesting permission to enter the presence of the\nHoly Prophet (PBUH&HP) all speak to the aspect of respect evident in this\nfamily. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Indeed this family and this household\nhas been given as a gift to history by the Holy Prophet(PBUH&HP) and has\nbeen considered as an example for humanity. This family and this household will\nfrom hereon be history\u2019s rescue ship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The definite and unanimously accepted\nstatement located in Sunni and Shia sources is the following: \u201cOne day the Holy\nProphet (PBUH&HP) and Imam Ali, Lady Fatimah, Imam Hassan, and Imam Hussein\n(PBUT) gathered in the house of Umm Salamah. The prophet put a cloak on his\nhead and every of the four other members, while reciting this prayer: \u201cO Allah,\nthese are my close people, these are my Ahl al-Bait, remove from them all\nimpurity, and cleanse them from (any wrong or sin). Afterwards, the Angel\nGabriel descended and brought the verse 33 from chapter 33 of the Holy Quran:\n\u201cVerily Allah only desires to keep away the uncleanness from you, O people of\nthe House! and to purify you a (thorough) purifying.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the narration society, \u201cHadith\nKasaa\u201d refers to the group of narrations where the narrations evident in Sunni\nand Shia books regarding the interpretation of the verse of Tat’hir have been\ncollected.
