A role model can be defined as a\nguide, pattern, and as a leader. The\nterm \u201crole model\u201d seeks to identify a person who possesses certain characteristics,\nwhich people admire and choose to follow. Different people choose different\nrole models in their lives and try to live their life in accordance to what\nthey see in that role model. A role model may have impact in a single aspect of\none\u2019s life, or it may have impact on many or all aspects of a person\u2019s life.\nNaturally one\u2019s life, goal, and motive may then be shaped and constructed based\non his\/her role model. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
One, who chooses Islam as his school\nof life, has actually chosen a way and goal that has been based on human\nnature. Thus such a person will search for a character that possesses all the\nspecial characteristics that the school of monotheism has offered in each\naspect of life in order to reach his goal of perfection. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the following verse, the holy Quran\nintroduces Prophet Muhammad (PBUH&HP), the prophet of Islam, as the best\nand perfect role model:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCertainly there\nis in the Messenger of Allah an excellent example for him who hopes in Allah\nand the latter day and remembers Allah much.\u201d 1<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through a deep study of the life of\nLady Fatimah al-Zahra (PBUH), one can slightly understand her exalted human\npersonality. She is similar to her father in terms of her divine and humane\ncharacter. Her similarity to her father is a truth that can be easily\nunderstood through her father\u2019s sayings about her. As the narrator quotes, the\nholy Prophet (PBUH&HP) came out while holding the hand of Lady Fatimah\n(PBUH) in his hand. He said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c(For) him, who\ndoes not know her, she is Fatimah, the daughter of Muhammad, she is a part of\nme, she is my soul, which is (located) between my two sides. Certainly, him who harms her has harmed me;\nand him who harms me has indeed harmed Allah.\u201d2<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other than being similar to the\nMessenger of Allah (PBUH&HP), which in itself is a complete and perfect\nproof of her being a role model, there are many other examples that prove her\nas a perfect and excellent model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For example, Aisha and some others have\nnarrated that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH&HP) has said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cO Fatimah! Glad\ntidings be upon you, for the almighty Allah has selected you above the women of\nthe worlds and the women of Islam, which is the best religion.\u201d3<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Let it be noted that the Messenger of\nAllah (PBUH&HP) holds such an esteemed character that all of his sayings,\nbehaviors, and manners are proof for us. He talks according to what is revealed\nto him and through his deep knowledge and insight. If he is silent about a person, or when he\npraises, or disgraces another, it is thoroughly true. As the holy Quran notes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe does not\nspeak out of desire- It is not but revelation that is revealed to him.\u201d4<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The messenger of Allah (PBUH&HP)\nhas honored his daughter and has greatly praised her. The Prophet\u2019s praises of\nLady Fatimah (PBUH) is not out of a fatherly love and affection. As a matter of\nfact the praises are due to the actual existence of such valuable moralities in\nLady Fatimah (PBUH). She is really great and pure; by praising her, the Prophet\n(PBUH&HP) seeks to make her real personality clear for others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Allah (SWT) has selected the Prophet\nof Islam and the Infallible Imams (PBUT) as perfect human beings, role models,\nand guides for all. Similarly, Lady Fatimah (PBUH) is a model for all people of\nthe world, be it man or woman. Truly, following her footsteps is following the\nMessenger of Allah and the Infallible Imams (PBUT) \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
