The person who is familiar with\nIslamic teachings and the records of Imam Ali (PBUH) knows how he was trained\nby the Great Prophet (PBUH&HP); and for this person the conduct and the\nspecial sensitivity of Imam Ali (PBUH) regarding justice and its importance is\nnot surprising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yes, isn\u2019t it mentioned in the Holy\nQuran that \u201cIndeed We have sent Our Messengers with clear proofs, and revealed\nwith them the Scripture and the Balance (justice) that mankind may keep up\njustice \u2026\u201d? (1)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this verse justice is introduced as\nthe purpose for appointment of all the prophets. The status and sacredness of\njustice is revered to an extent that the appointment of the divine prophets is\nintended for it. Now how is it possible for Ali (PBUH) who is the interpreter\nof the Quran and the explainer of the principles and details of Islam to remain\nsilent about this issue or to neglect it? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As an instance, based on the\nhistorical evidences, during the rule of Amir al-Mu\u2019minin Ali (PBUH), his armor\nwas lost and after a while it was found at the hands of a Christian. Amir\nal-Mu\u2019minin (PBUH) took him to the judge and claimed for the armor and said,\n\u201cThis armor belongs to me. I neither sold it nor did I bestow it to anyone, and\nnow I have found it at the hands of this man.\u201d The judge told the Christian,\n\u201cThe Caliph of Muslims expressed his claim. Now, what do you have to say for\nyourself?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Christian said, \u201cThis armor\nbelongs to me; however, I don\u2019t deny the claim of the Caliph, for that he might\nhave made a mistake.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The judge turned to Amir al-Mu\u2019minin\n(PBUH) and said, \u201cYou claim this armor and this person denies your claim.\nTherefore it is your task to bring a witness.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ali (PBUH) laughed and said, \u201cThe\njudge is right, now it is my task to bring a witness. However, I don\u2019t have any\nwitness.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Based on the fact that claimer did not\nhave a witness, the judge ruled in favor of the Christian, and he took the\narmor and started to leave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, the Christian who knew that\nthe armor was not his, after taking a few steps came to his conscience and\nreturned and said, \u201cThis way of conduct and rule of this man (Amir al-Mu\u2019minin\n(PBUH)) is not typical for normal rulers; it is rather typical for the rule of\nthe prophets. Then he confessed that the armor was for Amir al-Mu\u2019minin Ali (PBUH).\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After a while he was seen converted to\nIslam and faithfully and passionately taking part in the battle of Nahrawaan on\nthe side of Amir al-Mu\u2019minin (PBUH).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are some people who don\u2019t regard\nsuch central matters like justice in their teachings or think that justice is a\nside issue and only matters such as Salat (prayer) and fasting is important in\nthe religion. These people should reconsider their beliefs and way of thinking,\nand take into account such instances in the conduct of Amir al-Mu\u2019minin (PBUH).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
