Prophet Muhammad (PBUH&HP) used\nthe best means of preaching to guide the nation, which was attracting the\nhearts. He was the Messenger of peace and kindness in personal and social\nactivities. He used to target the hearts of people. In fact, his good manners\nand peaceful treatment with people was among his successful means of attracting\nthe people and conquering their hearts<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The historians have narrated that one\nday a Bedouin Arab man went to the Messenger of Allah (PBUH&HP) and asked\nfor some money. The Messenger of Allah (PBUH&HP) gave him some money and\nthen asked the man,\u201d Have I done you a favor?\u201d The man replied,\u201d No! You did\nnot do a favor, neither did you do good\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Muslims became angry and decided\nto punish them man for his rude behavior. \nHowever, the Messenger of Allah (PBUH&HP) ordered them to leave the\nman alone. Then, the Messenger of Allah (PBUH&HP) got up, went to his\nhouse, and sent someone after the Arab man. When the Arab Bedouin got to the\nMessenger of Allah (PBUH&HP), he gave the man some more money and then said\nto him,\u201d Did I do you a favor?\u201d The Arab man replied,\u201d Indeed! May Allah reward\nyou\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Messenger of Allah (PBUH&HP)\nthen said to the man,\u201d You previously said those insulting words to me in front\nof my companions, so they became angry at you. Now, if you like, come and say\nthe same words you said to me in front of them so that their anger would be\nremoved\u201d. The Arab man accepted to do so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then, the Messenger of Allah\n(PBUH&HP) turned to his companions and said, \u201cThis Arab man said those\nwords, and I gave him some more money. He is satisfied with me now\u201d. Then, he\naddressed the man and asked,\u201d Is it not such?\u201d The man replied,\u201d Indeed! May\nAllah reward you\u201d.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At this point, the Messenger of Allah\n(PBUH&HP) said,\u201d The story of me and this man is like the man whose camel\nhad stampeded. The people ran after the camel to catch it; however, the more\nthey tried, the farther the camel escaped. The owner of the people shouted,\u201d Go\naway! Leave me alone with my camel; because I am more kind towards it, and know\nits condition better than you\u201d. When the people left the camel, the owner\ngrabbed some grass and gave it to the camel, so it became tamed\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Had I not stopped you when this man\ninsulted me by saying those words, [perhaps] you would have killed him, and he\nwould have gone to Hell\u201d (1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This incident and many other examples\nfrom the life of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH&HP) shows the attraction of\npeople\u2019s hearts towards the good manners and behavior of him was among the\nmajor causes of their inclination towards Islam and the propagation of this\nreligion in the world. With the same analogy, Allah (SWT) has considered\nkindness and compassion as one of the main characteristics of mankind in the\nHoly Quran where He says,\u201d Thus it is due to mercy from Allah that you deal\nwith them gently, and had you been rough, hard hearted, they would certainly\nhave dispersed from around you\u201d(2).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
