Introduction<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The belief in \u201cMahdi\u201d (PBUH) originates from the divine\nnature of mankind. This belief causes hope in the hearts of people.\nFurthermore, even though there have been differences in the belief of the\nexistence of a savior, this belief however existed amongst many of the ancient\ncommunities. Due to the divine law of Allah sending prophets to promise the\narrival of a savior, the belief in a savior has been mentioned in other holy\nbooks. Though the narrations regarding to savior in other beliefs do not all\ncoincide exactly with the Shiite faith, they at least prove the existence of\nsuch a belief. This article will be elaborating and presenting the different\nbeliefs of previous faiths about the existence of a savior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mahdi (PBUH) in the Old Testament<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The promise of the\nSavior has been mentioned in 35 section of the 150 part Muzamir of Prophet\nDavid\u2019s Gospel (Holy book). \u201cFor oppressors will be eradicated, but the waiters\nof God inherit the earth. After a while there would be no oppressors and \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd a stem has grown from its roots; a branch will\nspring from its roots. And on it will\nthe ghost of God be placed and \u2026will judge the poor fairly and will judge\ntruthfully toward the oppressed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this book there is a brief explanation about reappearance\nera:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA Wolf will live with a sheep, a leopard will sleep\nwith a goat, a calf will be tamed with a lion, and a small kid will operate\nupon them. And there won\u2019t be a single loss or corruption within any of my holy\nmountains because the world will be filled with the insight of God.\u201d And\nfurther He emphasizes upon this holy occultation, \u201cThough the result of this\nmay delay, await for it, for it will truly come without hesitation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mahdi (PBUH) in the New Testament (The Gospels and their\nadditions)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It has been talked about him in different Gospels: “The\nappearance of Human’s Son is like light that spreads from east to west … and\nthen his signs will appear in the sky, and all the people will beat their\nbreast at that time, and will watch him come down on clouds majestically.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And this same Bible (New Testament) speaks of awaiting\n(during occultation) as such, \u201cThus you to be prepared, for the son of Man will\ncome at a time you do not expect.\u201d (Chapter 24, verses 37 and 45).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Marcus talks about awaited people: \u201cBut Father, no one knows\nof that day and hour, not the angels and not even the Son. So stay alert and\nsupplicate, because you do not know when that time will arrive\u201d (The Bible of\nMarcus, Chapter 14, verses 26-27, 31 and 33).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An interesting point about the Bible: According to American\nwriter Max, the word \u2018Son of Human\/Man\u2019 has been mentioned 80 times in the\nGospel and the new additions. However, only 30 of them are about Jesus (PBUH)\nand the 50 other are regarding the savior who will reappear near the ends of\ntime. Jesus (PBUH) will come with him,\nand will respect him greatly. And no one knows of the hour and day of the\nreappearance but the Almighty creator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mahdi (PBUH) in Hindu’s holy books<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Let it be emphasized that from the point of view of the\nShiite belief, these books are not considered holy. Rather these excerpts are\ncollected from previous holy books and\/or from noble people. Also these\nspecific predictions must be somehow related to sacred works and revelations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It has been narrated in one of the Hindu books known as\n\u201cBask\u201d that: \u201ca just commander near the ends of time will end two worlds. This\ncommander is the leader of angels and mankind. The truth is with him. And he\nwill get hold of what are hidden within the seas, earth, and skies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In “Shakmoni”, an accredited Hindu book, it has\nbeen mentioned that: \u201cMonarchy in this world will end by the son of the best\ncreature, “Koshen”(name of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH&HP)). He will\nrule on the mountains of the east to west and will ride upon the clouds…\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Furthermore, we read in “Vashen-Jool” about the end\nresults of the world: \u201cEventually, the world will turn toward the one whose\nname is \u201cAuspicious\u201d, he loves God and is of God\u2019s special servants.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dartek, Dideh Patkil, and Shaboohergan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mahdi (PBUH) in Zoroastrians references<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In \u201cZand\u201d, one of the holy books of Zoroastrians, the end of\nthe world is discussed in this way, \u201cThen, Izadan will be aided by Ahoora Mazda\nand will gain a great victory against Ahrimans. It is after Izadan victory that\nhuman beings will become prosperous.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The book of Jamasb, one of the Zoroastrian scholars,\ndescribes the characteristics of Mahdi (PBUH) as such, \u201cSomeone will come from\nthe Tazian Land of Hashem descendants with the religion of his ancestors; he\nwill come towards Iran with many troops; he shall civilize and fill the earth\nwith justice.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And somewhere else he says, \u201cFrom the last prophet\u2019s\ndescendants, someone will come who follows his ancestor\u2019s religion. \u201cFrom the\njustice he practices, the entire world will become \u2018Mehr Azmay\u2019 (Prophet Muhammad\u2019s\n(PBUH&HP)) followers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBahman\u201d contains Zoroaster foretells. In the book of\nZand and HooHooMan Lisen the arrival of Socians, the great savior of the world\nhas been foreteller as, \u201cSigns for the arrival of the savior will be seen as\nmarvelous signals appear in the sky and some angels will carry his messages\nfrom the east and the west to the whole world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ancient Iranians believed so strongly in the arrival of\n\u201cSocians\u201d that when their empire was defeated decisively in \u201cQadesieh war\u201d the\nthird Yazdgerd turned to his great castle, \u201cMada\u2019in\u201d, and said \u201cBless you; I\nwill leave now and shall return with one of my descendants who has not\nreappeared yet\u201d (Book of Jamasb, pages 121-122). However, the Shiite believes\nMahdi (PBUH) is of the descendants of Yazdgerd\u2019s daughter. She was the wife of\nthe third Imam of Shiites, Imam Hussein (PBUH), who is the ancestor of Imam\nMahdi (PBUH).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mahdi (PBUH) in different nations<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Below is a brief description on a few beliefs of different\nnations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
1) The ancient Iranians believed that \u201cGarzas,\u201d their\nhistorical hero, is alive and that a hundred thousand angels will keep him\nuntil the day he will come and fill the world with justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
2) The Slovakian believe that someone will reappear from\nthe east, unite all the Slovakian tribes and will set them over the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
3) The Germans believed that one of them will come and\nset Germans over the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
4) Residents of \u201cSebastian\u201d waited for the return of\n\u201cMarco Karliowich\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
5) The Jews believe that\u201dMessiah\u201d (the great savior) will\ncome and rule the world forever. But they know him as the descendants of\nIs\u2019haq. However, the Old Testament regards him as the descendant of Isma\u2019il,\nobviously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
6) People of \u201cScandinavia\u201d believe that the world will\nreceive some misfortunes. World wars will ruin most of the nations, then\n\u201cOodin\u201d or the divine help will come and defeat the entire world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
7) The Greek believe \u201cKal\u201d, the great savior, will come\nand save the entire world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
8) Central America tribes believe that the savior of the\nworld will gain victory after some events in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
9) The Chinese know someone called \u201cKeresna\u201d to be the\nsavior of the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
