Poverty had its hands up my neck. And although I had been careful in spending, my situation was not getting any better. My situation had become so difficult that I decided to see Imam Hadi\u00a0(PBUH)\u00a0and complain about the situation Allah\u00a0(SWT)\u00a0had willed upon me.<\/p><p>I began my journey toward the Imam\u2019s\u00a0(PBUH)\u00a0house.\u00a0\u00a0After asking permission, I was directed toward the Imam\u00a0(PBUH). I sat besides the Imam\u00a0(PBUH)\u00a0and just as I was about to start complaining about my situation, Imam Hadi\u00a0(PBUH)\u00a0said, \u201cO Aba Hashim! Which of Allah\u2019s\u00a0(SWT)\u00a0blessings do you want to praise?\u201d<\/p><p>With these words, the Imam\u00a0(PBUH)\u00a0had caught me off-guard as I struggled to find answers. Seconds later, the Imam\u00a0(PBUH)\u00a0spoke again, \u201cAllah\u00a0(SWT)\u00a0blessed you with\u00a0<strong>faith<\/strong>\u00a0to save you from Hell fire. He blessed you with\u00a0<strong>health<\/strong>\u00a0to help you in worshipping Him. And He blessed you with\u00a0<strong>contentment<\/strong>\u00a0to protect you from embarrassment\u2026\u00a0<\/p><p>\u201cO Aba Hashim! I began the conversation in such a manner because I assumed you were going to complain about the One who blessed you with all these blessings.\u00a0\u00a0[And by the way,] I have ordered that you be given 100\u00a0<em>Ashrafi<\/em>s. Take them\u2026<a href=\"#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a>\u201d<\/p><p>Perhaps we all have experienced hardships and difficulties in our lives. Issues that make life seem so suffocating that we highly feel the urge to complain\u2026 With a review on the abovementioned story, we can realize that Imam Hadi\u2019s\u00a0(PBUH)\u00a0addressee was not only Abu Hashim; in fact, the Imam\u2019s\u00a0(PBUH)\u00a0comments were directed to all faithful men and women who are desperately striving hard to find\u00a0<strong>a way toward change<\/strong>\u00a0in their difficulties and hardships. The message of the Imam\u00a0(PBUH)\u00a0focuses our attention to seeing\u00a0<strong>what we possess<\/strong>, rather than\u00a0<strong>what we lack<\/strong>.\u00a0These are the same blessings for which without them we would be the\u00a0<strong>poorest<\/strong>, even if we have all the riches in the world.
