{"id":22133,"date":"2019-01-27T15:53:35","date_gmt":"2019-01-27T12:23:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/roshd.com\/?p=22133"},"modified":"2025-08-19T15:27:12","modified_gmt":"2025-08-19T11:57:12","slug":"on-the-path-of-moderation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/roshd.com\/en\/on-the-path-of-moderation\/","title":{"rendered":"The Path of Moderation"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"22133\" class=\"elementor elementor-22133 elementor-2006\" data-elementor-post-type=\"post\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-2e0fddd5 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"2e0fddd5\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-settings=\"{&quot;ekit_has_onepagescroll_dot&quot;:&quot;yes&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-7de3fa4b\" data-id=\"7de3fa4b\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4c1ad3cb elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4c1ad3cb\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-settings=\"{&quot;ekit_we_effect_on&quot;:&quot;none&quot;}\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>If a horseback rider pressures his ride and rushes to reach his destination faster, his ride will not make it along the way.\u00a0\u00a0Such a rider will be left far away from his destination with an ill ride.\u00a0\u00a0This is our life story.\u00a0\u00a0The path ahead of us is the path of\u00a0<strong>servitude<\/strong>, and the ride which Allah\u00a0(SWT)\u00a0has loaned us is our\u00a0<strong>bodies<\/strong>.<\/p><p>It has been narrated from Imam Sadiq\u00a0(PBUH): \u201cA Muslim had a Christian neighbor, which they would stay in contact.\u00a0\u00a0He gradually invited the Christian to accept Islam, and eventually he did.\u00a0\u00a0The Christian converted to Islam and learned the manners of praying and ablution.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p>The first night as a Muslim he was sleeping when he was awakened by a knock at the door.\u00a0\u00a0Startled he got up to see who it was.\u00a0\u00a0It was his Muslim neighbor. The convert opened the door and asked if everything was all right. The Muslim man said, \u201cHaven\u2019t you converted to Islam? A Muslim must awake in the late evening to attend the mosque and recite the\u00a0\u00a0Nafela (recommended) Prayers.\u201d<\/p><p>The new Muslim made his ablution and accompanied his friend to the mosque. They recited the Nafela prayers, and the new Muslim said, \u201cwell let\u2019s leave then.\u201d The Muslim neighbor said, \u201cno we must await the Fajr prayer.\u201d They waited and then prayed the Fajr prayer. The neighbor said, \u201cwell are we done?\u201d The neighbor replied: \u201cIt is better that a person stays in the mosque until the sun rises, as this matter can increase a person\u2019s wealth.\u201d The poor man sat there with his friend until the sun came up. The older Muslim pulled on the former Christian\u2019s garment to urge him to stay and recite Quran until the Noon prayer, to recite the prayer in congregation. He said, \u201cDon\u2019t you know that a Muslim in the mosque is as a fish in water, in that it does not feel tired from swimming in the water.\u201d<\/p><p>After the Noon and Afternoon prayer, the older Muslim urged the former Christian to stay until the night prayer. They finally left after the Isha (night) prayer. The poor new Muslim went back to his house and slept. He was still tired from the previous day when he heard a knock on his door. He went to the door and heard his neighbor say, \u201cLet\u2019s go to the mosque.\u201d The former Christian said, \u201cDear friend, this religion of yours needs an idle working person. I have work to do and cannot live with your religion. I will return to my own religion!\u201d\u00a0<\/p><p>Imam Sadiq\u00a0(PBUH)\u00a0said, \u201cThe same man who made this Christian Muslim, made him an unbeliever!\u201d<a href=\"#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a><\/p><p>There are so many people who when it comes to religion and worship, they make themselves suffer with the thought to reach their destination faster.\u00a0<\/p><p>They sleep much less than they can handle; they do extra fasting and praying, and end up missing their obligations such as studying, research, work, and income. The religion has not ordered as such, faith has asked for\u00a0<strong>moderation<\/strong>\u00a0in all areas. In other words, we should not leave the recommended acts entirely, nor should we become so engaged with them that we miss out on our life responsibilities.
