{"id":15966,"date":"2019-01-25T16:13:29","date_gmt":"2019-01-25T12:43:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/roshd.com\/recognizing-the-truth-and-ignoring-it\/"},"modified":"2025-06-12T10:45:28","modified_gmt":"2025-06-12T07:15:28","slug":"recognizing-the-truth-and-ignoring-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/roshd.com\/en\/recognizing-the-truth-and-ignoring-it\/","title":{"rendered":"Recognizing the Truth and Ignoring It"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"15966\" class=\"elementor elementor-15966 elementor-1690\" data-elementor-post-type=\"post\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-71ce6d4f elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"71ce6d4f\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-settings=\"{&quot;ekit_has_onepagescroll_dot&quot;:&quot;yes&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-196127f6\" data-id=\"196127f6\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7868c7aa elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7868c7aa\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-settings=\"{&quot;ekit_we_effect_on&quot;:&quot;none&quot;}\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>All humans are eager to provide their own everlasting success, and often put forth their hardest efforts to obtain it.\u00a0 Finding access to success however, is dependent on two firm stages.\u00a0 One, is to know the truth, and two, is to act in the path of truth through valid and suitable methods.\u00a0 Sometimes, truth and its attributes are clear, but for various reasons, which include monetary, desire, and other reasons, the individual has transgressed from the main path, only to find himself in the company of the enemies of truth.\u00a0 The Holy Quran makes mention of this matter in incidents where several of the people who defied and denied the prophets reason their decision to do so, despite the clarity of truth, to be the way of their fathers, and thus furthered themselves deeper into falsehood.<a href=\"#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a>\u00a0To follow the path of certain people is only good and proper when those being followed are representing truth.\u00a0 If they themselves be on the wrong path, it pulls the followers towards destruction and punishment.\u00a0 Furthermore, the excuse of people for not following truth varies according to time and situation.\u00a0 Often the surrounding environments of family, friends, or society, desire, fame, wealth seeking, and others may prevent the following of truth.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The story that follows is from the life of Imam Hassan Mojtaba\u00a0(PBUH), which emphasizes the earlier text.\u00a0 That no matter how vivid the path and virtues of the Ahlul Bayt\u00a0(PBUH)\u00a0were, to the extent that even the public would admit to the perfection of their path, but this knowledge would not necessarily lead them to following their path.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Raja\u2019 ibn Rabi\u2019eh says, \u201cI was with a crowd in Medina, in the mosque of the Messenger of Allah\u00a0(PBUH&amp;HP). Abu Sa\u2019id and Abdullah ibn Amr o As<a href=\"#_ftn2\" name=\"_ftnref2\">[2]<\/a>\u00a0were also present.\u00a0 When suddenly Hassan ibn Ali\u00a0(PBUH)\u00a0passed us and greeted us saying Salam. Everyone responded except Abdullah ibn Amr o As who was quiet.\u00a0 He quickly followed Imam Hassan\u00a0(PBUH)\u00a0and said, \u201cMay Allah\u2019s peace and blessings be upon you,\u201d and then said to us, \u201cHe is the most loved by inhabitants of the heavens.\u00a0 By Allah I have not spoken to him since Seffein nights.\u201d<a href=\"#_ftn3\" name=\"_ftnref3\">[3]<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Abu Said said to Abdullah: \u201cWon\u2019t you join me and go to him to ask for his forgiveness?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Abdullah said, \u201cI am ready,\u201d and with that he stood up.\u00a0 Abu Said entered the presence of Imam Hassan\u00a0(PBUH)\u00a0and asked for permission. Once given, he asked permission for Abdullah ibn Amr o As, whom the Imam also allowed.<\/p>\n<p>Abu Said said to Abdullah ibn Amr o, \u201csay what you had just told us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Abdullah said: \u201cYes, I said, he is the most loved on earth by inhabitants of the heavens.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Imam Hassan\u00a0(PBUH)\u00a0replied: \u201cIf you knew I am the most loved by inhabitants of the heavens, then why did you come to rage a war on us, or why did you help increase our enemies in the battle of Seffein?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Abdullah said: \u201cby Allah, I did not attend the battle as a fake soldier nor as one with a sword. I only accompanied my father.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Imam Hassan\u00a0(PBUH)\u00a0replied: \u201cDid you not know that absolutely no one should be obeyed when commanding disobedience towards Allah\u00a0(SWT)?\u201d (one can only be obeyed to the extent that Allah\u2019s commands are followed; anything beyond what Allah\u00a0(SWT)\u00a0has ordered us must not be obeyed regardless of who is giving order of such mischief)\u2026<a href=\"#_ftn4\" name=\"_ftnref4\">[4]<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>(The above is a selection taken from &#8220;<em>Imam Mujtaba the Spirit of Mustafa\u2019s Heart<\/em>&#8220;, by Ahmad Rahmani Hamedani (with some additions))<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><u>Footnotes:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#_ftnref1\" name=\"_ftn1\">[1]<\/a> <strong>\u201cAnd if it be said unto them: Follow that which Allah hath revealed, they say: Nay, but we follow that wherein we found our fathers. What! Even though the devil were inviting them unto the doom of flame?\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0(Holy Quran 31:21)<\/p>\n<p>One of the interpretations (Qumi) points out in a narration by Imam Baqir\u00a0(PBUH)\u00a0that this verse was revealed about Nadhr Ibn Harith. He attempted to confront the holy Quran by narrating stories from the kings of Persia, and thus get people away from Prophet Mohammad (PBUH&amp;HP).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#_ftnref2\" name=\"_ftn2\">[2]<\/a> . Abdullah Ibn \u2018Amro \u2018aas was one those who attended the battle of Seffein in Muawiya\u2019s army. He has a well known poem which says: \u201cThey told us that our view is to give the pledge to Ali ** But our view is to kill him\u201d This has been referenced in books such as al-Musnaf Ibn Abi Shayba, vol.6, pg. 179; al-Mustadrak alal al-Sahihayn, vol. 3, pg. 527. His father \u2018Amro \u2018Aas was one of closest advisors to Mu\u2019awiyah who introduced the Hakamiat (a particular election and judgment between two parties) and placing the holy Quran on spears in order to end the battle of Seffein.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#_ftnref3\" name=\"_ftn3\">[3]<\/a> In the year 37 AH a battle took place between Amir al-Mu\u2019menin\u00a0(PBUH)\u00a0and Mu\u2019awiyah near an area called Seffein. In the beginning of Imam Ali\u2019s caliphate, he dismissed Mu\u2019awiyah as the rule of Syria. Mu\u2019awiyah did not accept and raged a war on the Imam.<\/p>\n<p>Towards the end of battle when Amir al-Mu\u2019menin\u2019s\u00a0(PBUH)\u00a0army got closer to victory, \u2018Amro \u2018Aas advised Mu\u2019awiyah\u2019s army to put the holy Quran on their spears and ask for Hakamiat (judgment of elected individuals). A group of soldiers left the battle when observed such seen. Imam Ali\u00a0(PBUH)\u00a0chose Malik Ashtar or \u2018Abdullah Ibn \u2018Abbas. But those who had quite the battle from the Imam\u2019s side insisted to have Abu Musa \u2018Ash\u2019ari for their elected person. Thus the judgment of who should be the Caliph was assigned between Abu Musa and \u2018Amro \u2018Aas; Abu Musa with his lack of competency in the subject and pre-planned scenario of \u2018Amro \u2018Aas, Imam Ali\u00a0(PBUH)\u00a0was dismissed as the caliph and Mu\u2019awiyah was chosen instead.<\/p>\n<p>Ansaab al-Ashraaf, pg. 349, al-Irshad, vol. 1, pg. 270, Manaqib, vol 3, pg. 189<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#_ftnref4\" name=\"_ftn4\">[4]<\/a> Majma\u2019 al-Zawa\u2019d, vol. 9, pg. 176; Mulhaghat Ihghaagh al-Hagh, vol. 33, pg. 545<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>True success requires knowing the truth and following it sincerely.
