On the day of Ashura, when all the companions of Hussain ibn Ali (as) were killed and he was left alone, the army of Umar ibn Sa’ad encircled him. Hussain (as) invited them to be quiet (so he could convey his message), but they did not listen. So Hussain (as) addressed them,” Woe to you! Why do you not keep quiet so that you could hear my words, as I am calling you towards the path of guidance… You do not listen to me because your stomachs are filled with ill-gotten (Haram) wealth, and your hearts are sealed with deviance.”
