Ali ibn Abi Talib

A part of Ali ibn Abi Talib (as)’s last will to his sons Hassan (as) and Hussain (as) after the attempt on his life by a stab from Ibn Muljam:

“My advice to you is to be conscious of God. Do not yearn for this world, even though it may run after you. Do not resent anything you have missed in it. Speak the truth and act (in expectation) for reward (in the Hereafter). Be an enemy of the oppressor and helper of the oppressed..

I advise you […] to keep your affairs in order, and to maintain good relations among yourselves, for I have heard your grandfather (Prophet Muhammad (sa)): “Reconciliation of the relations between yourselves is more worthy than all prayers and all fasting.”
Fear God in matters concerning orphans. Attend to their sustenance and make sure they never starve…

Fear God in your relations with your neighbors, because they were the subject of the Prophet’s advice. He went on advising in their favor till we thought he would allow them a share in inheritance.…”
