Hammad ibn A’yan says: “I visited Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (peace be upon him) and said, ‘Give me some advice!’ The Imam replied, ‘I advise you to fear God (taqwa).'[1]
The result of taqwa is to live a pure life in every way. A person’s life should be pure so that their death is also pure, and if a person’s death is not pure, they will not find the way to Heaven, which is the abode of the pure.
In the hereafter, a person who has spent their entire life in taqwa (meaning they have been careful with their speech, their sight, their food, and have been vigilant over all their actions, accepting and adhering to all that God commands and refrains from) will be greeted upon entering paradise with: “Peace be upon you! You were pure. Enter the paradise to live there forever” [2]
We have prayed and wished for a good end to our lives. We must know that the path to a good ending lies through taqwa, for it is taqwa that is the means to a good end.[3][4]
